[Resolved] Samsung India Limited — Making money out o[censored]nnecessary Engineer Visits | |||
I had purchased a 22inch Samsung LCD Television in 2010 with HDMI option. However, over the years I had never used it or checked if it was working. Recently when I purchased a HD Cable Box I realized the HDMI slot on the TV was not working and I agree samsung is not to be blamed as it was my job to check the same during the Warranty. I had called the customer care for the repair and I had conveyed that the HDMI slot is not working and the Technical Team conveyed the same to me after doing the routine steps which any educated person will do. The executive then conveyed that the HDMI slot has to be repaired and a service call needs to be done. He did not mention about any requirement of changing the mother board or the expenses that will be incurred. In view of the executive confirming the repair of the HDMI slot, I agreed for the visit costing 450rs. The Technician visited my place and even without opening the TV said the Mother Board needs to be changed costing me 4.5k odd. My concern is if that is the service he provides to me, which the customer care can also provide/ inform me about the mother board to be changed, what is the purpose of his visit and the expenses charged to me. I could have as well taken the decision to go for the repair or not during the communication with the Customer care. It is clearly cheating the customer on the pretext of repair for appliances out of warranty.
