Samsung — One UI 8 Software update lead to Motherboard failure

Dear Samsung,

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding an issue with my Samsung mobile. After attempting to update the One UI 8 software on 25th November 2025, my mobile stopped functioning properly. Upon visiting the service center for repair, I was informed that the motherboard was damaged, and they suggested a costly replacement.

However, when I asked the service center to raise a ticket, they blamed me for the issue, claiming that the phone was "bent". This accusation is false, as my mobile was working properly before the software update and had no physical damage. I have always used the device with care.

Here are the details of my complaint:

Device Model: Samsung M55 ( SM-M558BZKAINS)

IMEI Number: R9ZX90DKN2D

Purchase Date: 26th Sept 2024

Purchase Price: INR 17, 999/-

Service Center Visits:

On 25th November 2025, I visited two Samsung service centers on the same day. Both centers informed me they didn’t have the necessary software update and asked me to come the next day.

On the following day, I was told the motherboard was damaged and was quoted a replacement cost of INR 15, 793/- for the motherboard. This cost is almost equivalent to the price I paid for the entire phone.

Warranty Period: The mobile’s warranty period was 12 months, and the issue occurred just after the 12-month warranty period had ended (in the 14th month).

Service Center Submission: I submitted the phone on 1st December 2025 and agreed to pay INR 5, 000 for the motherboard replacement on 4th December 2025.

Customer Support Issues: Despite numerous attempts to contact Samsung customer care and the service center, I have not received any responses regarding my issue or the repair status.

Given that my mobile issue arose just after the warranty period ended, and the fault occurred immediately after an official software update, I believe this issue should still be covered as a manufacturing defect. The accusation that I caused the damage is baseless, and I am requesting a full refund of the INR 17, 999/- I paid for the device or replacement of the device.

The delay and lack of communication from Samsung have caused significant inconvenience, and I request immediate resolution of this matter.

Thank you for your attention to this issue. I look forward to your prompt assistance.
