SBI — Harassment of friends and relatives by Collection Agents

Due to the pandemic and lockdown I was unable to make payments towards my SBI credit card.

I have been clearly explaining my situation to the collection agents on a regular basis. There was an executive who introduced himself as Karthik [protected] visiting my place along with another person who introduced himself as Thyagarajan. I have updated them on the situation. But the person named Karthik falsely accused me of not paying even before the Pandemic, for which I have shared with him the details of the last four payments clearing total dues not just minimum dues. Also he has been visiting my places very often. On 23rd August 2021 they visited again, but I was not present at my House during that time, they created a ruckus among the neighbours and asked my wife to call a number from her phone. He also forcibly took her phone out of her hands and pretended to speak to another person. While the other person distracted her (I suspect that to be Thyagarajan), Karthik stole her contacts from her phone without her knowledge (Which we found out yesterday only).
Since then this person along with his colleagues have been calling my wife's friends and family members (Female friends and Family members are targetted) telling them that Me and My wife have taken out a loan in their names and cheated the bank and they are supposed to make the payment now. They also verbally abuse them during the conversations, using derogatory remarks and abusive words and undescribable verbal diarrhea. This has been happening for the last two days. This is still ongoing. We have also found that the people they talk to are all existing SBI savings account holders and using their personal details obtained through internally these guys are using it against them to threaten them as well.

I never expected this third rated criminal behaviour from SBI employees and I don't know if that is their company policy to hire such criminals.

I've already filed complaint to TN CM's Special Cell and I'm reporting it to the cyber cell as well. Due to my current situation I cannot afford to hire a lawyer to send legal notice, but I hope to do that soon when I'm able to or with the help of friends. But the harassment is still going on and so far they have called many of my wife's family members and friends and intimidated them. Few have recorded the calls. I'm handing over that to the cyber cell as well.

So far only the fake Chinese money lenders only have been doing like this but now SBI also using the same modus operandi. This is clearly a criminal activity and pure violation. I want to bring this to public notice and stop further harassment of others too by the unruly agents.

The first mail regarding the complaint was sent to your support mail only. Despite that the harassment is ongoing nonstop. You have still not stopped this. They're targeting existing SBI savings account holders in our contact list and threatening them with their personal details. The CM cell complaint is under processing and once they start the action on it, we will make sure this issue is brought into light at national level. I'm also working on steps to take legal action against your bank and the employees as well. This is completely not acceptable and totally illegal. This you cannot brush aside as inconvenience, this is pure Harassment and your bank needs to pay for this
