[Resolved]  Simplilearn — course cancellation and refund

I have subscribed to the "dual pgp course for data science and ai" course in 13th february 2020. Immediately after subscription, instead of showing both data science and ai in the course page, i was only able to see data science assigned to me. This issue was only resolved at 18th february 2020. My learning consultant then informed me to register for a live class (Trial period) to see if i am happy with course content. She also mentioned that if i am not happy then i can cancel. I checked for live class registration with my learning consultant guidance. As no live classes were available that week, she told me to register for a batch starting from feb 22. Note: it was an advanced course that needs previous classes to be taken for understanding. When i raised this concern, she told me that this is the only option as no introductory classes were live that time and also i can check if enough examples such things are given. When i informed my learning consultant that i was not able to attend the class because of medical reasons, i wanted to download the course content to check if i am satisfied with the content taught in that registered live class. She instructed me the steps to follow and i was again facing issues with the downloading course content. When i informed this to my learning consultant, she said that she is out of office and that i should raise a ticket.

I was under the impression that the trial period is still going on as i was only facing issues with seeing course content and also the only available batch was starting from feb 22. My learning consultant did not give me any kind of information that my trial period was already over even before my first registered session started (I. E on feb 22nd). Also i was facing a lot of issues after subscribing to the course with seeing and downloading content. I requested for cancellation of course on 25th of february and i was informed that i cannot cancel the course because my trial period was over. She can only provide me with a course extension. I explained my situation to the learning consultant and she told me about the good price for which i received the dual masters course and i can start after some 2 to 3 months. I told her that i have not seen much course content and she said it is not possible to cancel the course.

Before the course subscription i requested for an option that the emi should not be automatically debited from my account and it should be triggered only when i manually pay my emi. It was promised by my learning consultant that they have options for this and she will enable the option. But for march month, emi was automatically deducted from my account. When i contacted my learning consultant regarding this, she said that the manual option is only available if i pay before 13th of each month and if i do not trigger it before the 13th, then money will be automatically deducted (Which she did not inform before i subscribed to the course). She also informed me that my cibil score will get affected if the payment is not done on time. I initiated the manual payment for april as i did not want my cibil score to be affected.
However, i'm not taking any course content till now due to unavoidable circumstances (My pregnancy time). However, i wasn't able to pay my emi further due to my financial problems on covid-19 situation but, emi fine charges are being debited by zest money (Due to insufficient balance).

I was informed that the course content is valid for lifetime access before i subscribed to the course. But after i requested for the cancellation that i am not able to take courses, my learning consultant told me that only the materials are available for lifetime and the live recording will be only available for some time. If the trial period is only for 7 days, i should have been given with some kind of reminder that the trial period is about to end. But i did not receive any form of such notification from you. As i clearly mentioned above, i was not able to also view any content during the trial period. Then how this trial period policy is applicable to me. Clearly my learning consultant was misleading me to choose my trial course outside of the trial period. She is representative of simplilearn and i believed her that i can still cancel the course as she was the one guiding me to register a trial course. I have not touched artificial intelligence course and data science course progress is still at 23% completion only.

I request you to cancel my course subscription as there is no need for me to pay for a course since i am not studying. I cannot continue the course in future also. I was also continuously misguided and misled into taking this course and the information given to me prior to the subscription of the course is not clear. My learning consultant is of zero help now and customer delight is not considering the situation.

I am already charged with a fine for not paid emi by zest money. If it continues, it would lead me to undesirable situations.

Fee paid so far: 9, 500 inr (For march & april excluding emi payback)
Emi fine charges : 2582 inr

In order to terminate emi debit by zest money, i'm requesting your confirmation email on cancelling the course subscription. Please take it as my kind request. It would be very much helpful for me and my family in this situation.

Hi Simplilearn,

If I remember correctly, you asked me to forward you any form of proofs I may have. But the content you have mentioned in the email sent to me and also the reply I got in the Consumer complaints forum does not include this. Why am I getting different responses in email and telephone calls? I have attached the response I got after posting my complaint in consumer complaints forum.
I have attached the screenshots of my mailbox and whatsapp chat screenshot (whatever I could retrieve from backup) in this email.
As you can see in the screenshots given below, I got registered to course on Feb 13. You can also see my welcome email from simplilearn on the same day.
I had issues with course content from when I could login to Simplilearn LMS portal i.e. on Feb 14. I enrolled for Dual masters in Data science and AI and you can see in the screenshots that only Data science was enrolled in LMS portal. This issue was resolved only on Feb 19th. I have attached the screenshot of the notification email I received from Simplilearn support after the issue resolution.
As per my learning consultant (Usharani), I can attend one live class and some self learning content (to decide if I want to continue the course or cancel). The only available batch started from Feb 22 and I have attached the screenshots of the live class registration from my mailbox. As I mentioned in my previous email I was not able to attend the live class and wanted to download the content so I can confirm whether or not I wanted to continue the course. I was facing an issue with the download option and reported it to my learning consultant.I have also attached this screenshot. I was able to download the course content (live classes conducted on Feb 22) only on Feb 24th and messaged my learning consultant on Whatsapp that I cannot continue the course on Feb 25th.
I have trusted Simplilearn to be fair and enrolled. But I was not aware we will be facing these many issues with the course. 
So I clearly mentioned to you in the last conversation we had, I was facing issues with course content itself and got resolution from simplilearn on Feb 19th. 7 days have passed with this course content issue itself. I was promised by my learning consultant that I have a live class in the trial period and she suggested that I take a batch starting from Feb 22. I viewed the content and asked my learning consultant for a course cancellation on Feb 25th.
She misguided me and stalled the time and when I asked for cancellation she told me she can only give me course extension. After contacting her so many, she was mentioning about LMS policy and support contact number and refused to help me.
She was my only point of contact from simplilearn. She told me I have to contact her whether or not I am continuing the course. So I contacted her but I was not receiving proper response after that. 
My learning consultant should have mentioned my trial period was over instead she was leading me on asking me to take a batch starting from 22nd. When I asked for cancellation, she said she can only provide me with a course extension. 
Are you guys saying my trial period is over even before I  have the full package of course content and trial courses you have promised me with before I enrolled? How can you say we have a 7 day policy and after that you cannot cancel? I was facing issues with your application and course for the initial 7 days you are mentioning. 
I clearly mentioned my medical (pregnancy) and financial situation to you and I cannot continue the course even in future. Also, I am not ready to pay for a course which I am not attending. 
My case is clearly different, so kindly consider this and provide me with a course cancellation email.

My response:
But If you could refer to the screenshots I provided in consumer complaints forum, I have sent messages to my learning consultant on 25th February to cancel the course. But she was not agreeing and she was saying about good price of the course and job assistance programs. She only offered extension. For the following week, she was not responding and she was dragging the days.

In March, when she was available, she sent emai to her senior for course extension.

It is not my fault that she was only available in March. I initiated course cancellation on February 25th itself to her as she was my point of contact from Simplilearn for course related queries like cancellation. She was dragging me till March and after that said according to policy she can only give me course extension.

I reached out to her for cancellation within 2 days after viewing trial live class content and it comes within 7 days if you calculate from 19th February (according to your reply I have attached above). But kindly refer to my previous email and screenshots and you can see that I was facing issues with viewing live class content on February 22nd also.

Kindly consider this and provide me with course cancellation email.

I am not getting proper response or calls from simplilearn. They asked me to provide proofs and even after providing them with screenshot proofs, I have not received any proper response from them. When followed up again in email, they are asking to raise another ticket in simplilearn portal.

I have previously raised many tickets in this help but no proper outcome was given. That's why I have posted a complaint in consumer complaints. Now the same process of creating tickets is getting repeated.

I am not even sure whether my complaint is taken up to higher management in Simplilearn as I am noticing that no response is provided in this consumer complaints portal.

Are you guys saying my trial period is over even before I have the full package of course content and trial courses you have promised me with before I enrolled? How can you say we have a 7 day policy and after that you cannot cancel?

That is the point !! These guys don't respond on 6th-7th day and then say ... Policy Terms !!! BEWARE !!!
I had poor experience with Simplilearn. They will call you multiple times when they need your money but no one will call you for issue resolution. The only way to raise concern is via their app and the issues do not get recognized via email. All such communication is via their app (and such communication can be altered at their end unlike issue recognition via email after email has been sent) and the exchange is not exportable for evidence. The only way to get it is through screenshots. Clearly, they have made raising of concerns harder and resolution even much harder. All they are interested in is getting your money and they try to entice you with some free course. If you log complaint with credit card company for charge back, they would show the time you spend on the app trying to figure out how to raise complaints as if you were accessing course materials. Their refund policy is made restrictive (within 7 days from registration) and even if they are taking longer to resolve dispute such as difficulty in delivering course content, they choose to remain silent on refund. As there is no email for logging dispute, you barely have evidence to prove your side.

My suggestion based on personal experience STAY AWAY FROM CONTENT PROVIDERS WHO HAVE POOR REFUND POLICY. It will become a trap like it has some o[censored]s.
