Spencers — Consumer Harassment

To Whom It May Concern I went to Spencers at South City Mall on August 22, 2014 and purchased daily grocery items to the bill amount of Rs. 4599. I told the employee at the Cash-Counter that I wish to redeem my points so far accumulated against my membership card bearing no.[protected]. After trying to swipe the card in the machine, the person informed me that my card has not been activated and as such the points cannot be redeemed and to get the same actived I have to travel to the customer care desk and get things sorted. It is most unfortunate that a retail store of such repute functions in such a sloppy manner. Although I have been using the card for over a year and a half, now I get to learn that the same was not activated so far. I had to pay the entire sum of Rs. 4599/- and could not get the same adjusted against the points so far accumulated. I was told by few other customers that they have faced similar problem when they wanted to redeem the points. I fail to understand that why the cards are issued and what for the points are collected when at the time of need the same cannot be redeemed.
