State Bank Of India (SBI) — Mandatory insurance for opening savings account (SBI TOWN Branch Dharmavaram)

Address:Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh

This incident happened to me on 31/07/15, friday at Sbi town branch (near Market) dharmavaram. I entered the Bank at 10a.m right after opening the gates and I am the first one in queue for opening a savings account(at desk 5) of branch. The concerned officer came at 10:30 and took his time to settle himself. After I shown him the application to open the savings account two things happened, 1. The officer handed me a health insurance form and asked me to fill the details and pay an amount of 1300/- towards it and 500 towards account deposit and when i asked about the insurance, he said it's a mandatory without which he will not open account and sarcastically said open the account outside if you want it with out insurance. 2. I have provided the required KYC documents for opening the account, even then he asked me to get introduced by someone who has the sbi account. which to my knowledge is not required and the same is stated in application form. 3. I called up the customer care and explained the same, where they said me no such insurance is mandatory and raised the complaint on my request. (not provided any complaint no). I urge the SBI officers to work for the people, I too have the value for my time same as you people have it for yours. Please understand this and help the people you are working for. No one will come to bank to waste time.

Same incident happened to me as well just few days ago in Hyderabad Karvan branch, adding one more point to this the staff are so very rude like a bunch of goons on top of that check out the way they dress up no dress code at all and no id cards to be shown, SBI need to take these concerns seriously
Similar incident happened at SBI Gulab tower branch (Ahmedabad). They first said it is compulsory to buy SBI general personal accident insurance. When we further asked to give it in written, they said it is optional. SBI management should look into this.

Never open dude
It's too happened to me at devrajmall branch bapunagar ahmedabad,
He said insurance is essential.
I will never ever visit sbi again,
It's really embarrassing,
We need insurance for open saving account??
Today I faced same incident while submitting my AOF for a new savings account. I need it urgently. They said about a welcome kit which requires me to go for a group health insurance scheme of SBI which would enable me to get my account opened immediately with net banking, atm facility and so on. I refused to opt the scheme and I have been told that account opening would take longer like 15 or more days. I was so surprised with this unethical practice and even went to the Branch Manager who told me the same.
Same thing happened to me at SBI gudimalkapur branch(karwan) they said that the accidental insurance was mandatory to open a savings account.
Same thing happened with my father when they have visited SBI branch JAWAD to open saving account. Branch has refused to open saving account without 500 INR accidental insurance and unfortunately my father has signed form.
They have provided banking all accessories and opened saving account in few hours.

Then later I have raised complained via SBI online.

I am shocked that complaint was forwarded to same SBI Jawad branch who is actually involved into corruption and complaint was resolved with resolution ‘Application/Consent form is available on record’

No one was bother to call my father and take statement.

I also spoke to Branch Manager and initially he said that your father must come to me and raised issue with me and then started argument and finally disconnected the call.

So finally I decided to close the account and opened in some other bank after one year although they have high minimum balance and fee but value of Money.

I must say –
SBI is the highest corrupted bank.
Does not care of customer.
Mostly lower class or reservation class employee who have no sense of talking.
Is SBI a Nationalized Government bank or a private loan recovery firm started for collection of money from people's accounts. It's more outrageous and appealing!! I am a student who opened a savings account in Kurnool Bazaar Branch, on 08 January 2018. The SBI staff after verifying all my documents and getting my e-KYC done, have actually asked to buy the mandatory Accidental Cover Insurance. It's nowhere else and believe me they didn't said me when initially I inquired them about the formalities. I was In urgent need of opening an SBI savings A/c as I have to open for funds transfer so taking my weakness in consideration they have collected money for insurance from me too. About the SBI staff, are they really ethically educated, civilized, well-behaving or not? When I asked them why I have to buy Accindental cover Insurance the Asst. Manager said: "what does this Insurance amount (Rs.*00/-) going to cost you, you are a student and it doesn't even cost your Petrol cost"!!! It's more embarrassing they will auto-debit RS.*00/- for every year and should WE remain quiet?? What is this response from the SBI, I think the Employees of SBI are meant for looting the public, senior citizens, unaware innocents amassing the lower middle class and Ofcourse with new banking Regulations coming into effect they are on the top sky. If the customer has made any mistake they are ready to scold her/him, In reverse they don't take any responsibilities if mistake has been committed by them. I kindly request the concern that "Money is not everyone's piece of paper, It comes only when people work, earn it" . And Banks are not any debtors, money collecting channels to collect whatever amount they want from public. Kindly stop this SBI employees, you are Government employees you must aware, work for public service for the salary being paid to you by GOI
Same thing happened with me today, I have opened an account with Telangana Grammena bank Kalyanpuri branch (it belongs to SBI) few days back and when I checked my balance it doesn't even show 1000 rupees in the account and when I asked them about that they are saying that I have opted for some insurance which I'm not aware at all. While opening the account attender said that whatever the amount I add it will be in my account but this is ridiculous service by these people. They are frauds and opening insurances without even our knowledge. Staff was very rude as if they are not getting paid. WORST SERVICE BY SBI. SBI workers need to first get training on patience and respecting others.
Just today the same incident happened with me sbi branch Rajgarh (raj) the concern officer asked 500 rs for the accidental insurance and said it is mandatory.
The same happened for me in sbi palladian branch. This is ridiculous. @SBI please let us know if this is expected.
Same Incident Happened to me Today at SBI Branch (Subhasgram). They are just looting people.
Same thing happened to me as well, at Subhasgram Branch. They also said if you don't want the insurance then just go for a zero balance account. They won't open a savings account without the insurance.
At Panachivila SBI Branch, Kollam, Kerala, they forced me to give Rs.500 for insurance. They said it was mandatory for opening an account with sbi.
Same think happend to me, when i went to open my sbi saving bank acc in chetpet, chennai branch. Being a student, where an accidental policy has been taken without my knowledge, when asked about the same, it was stated as it is default and mandatory by the branch manager. And they hav instantly debited ₹1000 as premium per annum. The most disgusting part was, are we supposed to go through an accident to claim it??*. Such a fraud behaviour of looting innocent people's money in this covid pandemic. Caution -don't go for sbi. Go for another good ones !FRAUDS.*
Same with me also ! First thing is that getting any work done at SBI bank is just equal to meeting God. After a month of to and fro from the branch, which is Simri, Buxar branch in Bihar I got some hope that account will be opend. It took around 4 hrs to complete all the process. Finally they provided me an insurance form and was asked to fill. I resisted saying I don's want any insurance. But the person opening the account snatched my pasbook and said you won't get sign and stamp on your passbook without that from branch manager. And on asking the branch manager he also said the same thing that it was compulsary. Any having no way I paid 500 and took the insurance as default. Such ## is there in our government system of looting the people.
I am holding SB account with SBI for several years. I was to request for Personal Accident Insurance every year & use to pay for that. During 2021, I didn't requested but the amount got debited from my account (total INR 600/-) towards Personal Accident Insurance !!!

I wrote to SBI Bank (Branch 30281) & SBI General Insurance on the same day of debit 02.Aug.2021. After several emails on 05.Aug.2021, SBI General confirmed that they will reverse the money. However, till date (17.Aug.2021) there has been no response from SBI General & SBI Bank.

SBI General EMAIL THREAD ID:1-7AXWXB3
SBI Bank EMAIL Thread ID 3584215
Have reported to grivences cell of SBI Bank however, no concrete response about reversal of debited amount !!!

Can't trust on SBI !!! They may debit us for forcefully selling any of their products.
SBI in Saharanpur up at Itc branch is also forcing people who want to open new account to take rs 500 accidental insurance. So people refused to open account in SBI. Even staff is rude and highly unprofessional and uncooperative.other banks are still better than SBI in all respects
Yes the same incident happened with me When I met the bank for opening an account..
At BHADRADRI KOTHAGUDEM (DIST), KOTHAGUDEM(TOWN), 507101
