Tata Sky — sharp practice on the use of their helpline
I have an annual subscription (ID: [protected]) for TataSky dish tv service. As I was out of town for an extended period I had requested to have this transmission put on hold. On returning to my home, I called the helpline number shown on their screen to reactive the transmission service. This reactivation was done satisfactorily within a couple of hours. However, after receiving my monthly phone bill, I realised that I had been charged for an international call (Rs.56 +18% tax) for the call to their helpline number[protected] which appears on the TV screen. No local or toll-free number is provided on the screen. The question for TataSky is this: Is this your standard practice to expect your subscriber to incur a heavy telephone charge to avail of a standard assistance of your service? Subsidiary questions: Why does TataSky not warn the subscriber that international call rates will apply for the calls to[protected]? And why does TataSky not provide a local number or a toll-free number on the screen as a standard practice? Also, if I did not have the facility for placing an international call on my phone, I would not have been able to avail of assistance. Was this information helpful?
