Toyota — tyre burst in toyota platinum etios

I have purchased your platinum etios car (Kl09al 7542) from palakkad dealer on 26.10.2016 and run 8500 km. On 4th september, 2017 while returning from my home town the driver seat back side tyre got burst. On 9.9.17 the tyre was got inspected at your coimbatore service center who after taking consultation with goodyear person informed their inability to replace. I spoke to the goodyear person who also said the tyres are meant for good road condition and not off road conditions. The burst is no side of the tyre hence no replacement. The rejection report is awaited.

I hold a very high reputation of toyota quality that is why even i have decided to change my earlier brand to platinum etios (Recollect your tv ads on safety). Since both dealer & goods supplier refused to entertain my request and i can't use the car without a stepni, i request your immediate intervention on the subject by day end today and arrange to replace the tyre on free of cost.

I could not get any positive response other than telephonic enquiry of the subject. Incidentally, I could get the reports of your Coimbatore service station & tyre manufacturer representative's report. I am astonished to see the remark given in the report saying that 'Defect found external damage on side wall due to road hazard which is not covered under warranty'. I have cross checked with Goodyear dealers in Coimbatore also who has informed that this tyre doesn't give warranty for side wall but other series are given. Considering the facts of (1) Indian roads, (2) how Toyota (a company normally give preference for safety & customer care) could select this particular model of tyre which does not guaranty the minimum protection of safety of its customers (3) the tyre has run only 8550 KM and not even one year, (4) in case it is a rare incident, I request an immediate investigation on the matter including the reason of Toyota selecting a tyre which does not warrant minimum requirement. Since I could not see any immediate solution to the problem and enable me to use my car, I had to purchase a new tyre. Enclosed is copies of Toyota report, Goodyear report and new tyre bill for your necessary action. In the meantime, to keep the goodwill I established with Toyota, please arrange to reimburse me an amount of Rs.3900/- immediately to take care of the expenses I incurred to purchase a new tyre.
