[Resolved]  Samsung 43 Inch 3d Plasma (D490) — Defective PDP panel with horizontal line

Concerned Samsung Executive,

I bought this 3D plasma TV (D490) in September 2011. The TV had to be taken to the service center within a couple of weeks as it never was able to show pop out 3D effects. I did use original Samsung 3D glasses and 3D blu ray titles. It came back from service with 3D working perfectly fine after they only flashed the firmware version again (thats what I was told). Now in Dec 2012 within 1 yr and 4 months, a horizontal line appears right in the middle and Samsung engineers promptly attended to the complaint. They checked the board which was fine and then said the PDP panel has to be replaced at a cost of 18000/-. After few repeated calls they came back with an offer of some discount on the replacement that I rejected since I cannot absorb any cost related to the panel which is the main component of the TV going burst within 16 months. The decision is still pending with the head office who now have stopped calling me back.

Being an ardent fan of Samsung products that fill my home, Samsung are making no efforts to keep a loyal customer happy. I myself have recommended this TV to several of my friends and I feel guilty for doing so. Unless concerned senior level executives at Samsung earn back my loyalty and quickly, I intend to pursue legal action through a consumer court.

Completely useless. Samsung do not provide warranty for more than 1 year and wont even sign up AMC for additional cost. Thats because all their flat panels are defective (LCD, LED and Plasma) as seen in various complaint forums. Somebody must sue them for dumping useless products into Indian market. LG is better. I have one for 3 years without any issue and they also sign up AMCs at additional cost.
