[Resolved]  Vmmc & Safdarjang Hospital — neurosurgeon manish rawat (mbbs mch) and his designs to exploit vulnerable patients

I was referred to safdarjung hospital, super specialty block (Ssb) by a local government hospital near my house.
On the date of my appointment, i was referred to dr. Manish rawat (Mbbs, mch)

The patient with me was my grandmother (78 years old) who had trauma on her head and was experiencing vertigo (Chakkar) upon changing her positions such as sitting, standing, laying down etc.

The problem was as simple as that i. E. Patient experiencing vertigo.

Manish rawat, who in his opd with his attendants (One of whom was chewing tobacco in the room) did not investigate for even 10 seconds, she did not even ask for symptoms from my grandmother and straightaway prescribed mri (I already has ct scans and its report with me) as the reports of ct scan were not enough for him to diagnose. I agreed and for a second thought that he must be really a master of his trade.

The mri were not prescribed on the opd card (Unnethical conduct #1), and i was told to follow one of his compounder who took me outside and gave me a business card of ganesh daignostics in rohini (Unethical conduct #2), where he said that mri would be done at 6000 only whereas the outside cost is very high. Upon asking that why the super speciality block does not have a facility of mri, i was told that the waiting is very much and the cost is almost similar. I being in a vulnerable position thought that i don't have any other option. I took my suffering grandmother to the lab several kilometers away.

The mri report which diagnosed nothing wrong with the brain besides some age related degeneration, was taken by me to the hospital the next day. Which the doctor read and said that cervical has a problem due which the vertigo is experienced, he advised surgery which was the immediate requirement.

He also prescribed be 4 tablets to be taken for 10 days, after prescribing he specifically ordered me to get them checked with him as the chemist my give wrong medicines. This is unusual especially for a doctor so busy as him. The jan aushadi kendra at safdarjung hospital has all the 4 medicines but with a different name (Same salt) which i took the doctor to verify, he ordered the medicines to be returned and get them from somewhere else, suggesting outside shops my have them (Unethical conduct #3, he must prescribe generics available everywhere and easy). I returned every medicine and called it a day.

I had lost faith in the doctor. I knew he was behaving weirdly with ulterior motives, he was least concerned about the patient and his problem but only with ways he can make a commission. For example mri lab commission and medicine brand commission.

I took my grandmother to aiims immediately where the neurosurgeon told me that there was need for an mri at all.
The problem has nothing to do with dislocation of the cervical has the changes are age related and also it says so specifically in the report.
My grandmother was given a clean chit from the neurosurgery department the same day and was referred to ent department where they would do the epley maneuver for relocation of ear particles that were dislocated due to trauma.

The problem is very common and the solution is simple — benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (Bppv) any doctor worth his salt must check for it before moving ahead. Manish rawat (Mbbs, mch) is incompetent, says this simple thing.

#1. Referring me to an outside mri lab without mentioning that on the opd card
#2 prescribing medicines by name (Not salt) which are available only at specific shops outside the hospital
#3 making a wrong diagnosis on the basis of evidence of report that clearly said that the changes are due to age
... Has brought a disrepute to the hospital and the profession of doctor in general.

He is an exploitative person with no humility.

Dr. Manish rawat must be avoided at every cost. Besides being exploitative he is incompetent as well.

Bottom line: if you are referred to him, do only one thing — run and don't look back.
Else he will exploit you like mercilessly, he did that my 78 year old grandmother, he will do it to you too. You many not feel that but you will be exploited, after all that's the only thing he is expert in.

No wonder he owns an audi q7 and has a 'hit and run' case leading to death of 4 people lodged against him, he is a person which brings disrepute to humanity.
