Zomato – A Platform That Rewards Fraud Over Customers
I never thought I’d say this, but Zomato has officially lost my trust.
On 21st July 2025, I placed an order from Taste of Tandoor through Zomato (Order ID: [protected]). After waiting two hours, the app marked my food as “delivered.” But nothing arrived.
I contacted the restaurant, who shared the delivery rider’s number – Golu Prajapati ([protected]). He claimed to have delivered the order, but I found no one at the gate. I tried calling him repeatedly – he ignored every call. He lied, disappeared, and kept the food (and my money).
This was outright theft.
I reported the incident to Zomato, hoping they’d investigate and offer a refund. Instead, I received a generic response saying:
“We were unable to verify any discrepancy... our system shows the order was delivered.”
No empathy. No real investigation. No refund.
So let me say this clearly:
If a Zomato rider marks your food as delivered and steals it, Zomato will side with them – not you.
The issue is not the ₹305 I lost — it’s the sheer arrogance and negligence of a company that refuses to protect its customers from fraud.
By denying the refund and closing the case, Zomato has shown it supports fraudsters within its system. And if this can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.
I’ve deleted the app permanently. And I urge you all to think twice before ordering from Zomato. When things go wrong — and they do — Zomato will leave you helpless.
Zomato, thank you for revealing your true colors.
You didn’t just lose ₹305.
You lost a loyal customer.
And I’ll make sure others know what you did. — Sanjeev Dixit
