Sir / Madam,
I am writing to seek your assistance in resolving an issue with Airtel regarding an unethically charged add-on data pack.
In the first week of June, I had activated my international roaming pack for my trip to Russia on my mobile number [protected]. However, during my transit in Bahrain on June 1st, I received the following message:
“Alert! You have consumed approximately 100% of the 1.0 GB pack data. Please note, there could be some variation in actual usage as the details are dependent on international operators. Post 100% consumption, speed will get reduced to 80kbps. Now you can buy additional data at just Rs 755 for 5 days. To purchase a pack & track your usage, visit Airtel Thanks App https://i.airtel.in/IRdatatopup.”
Seeing this message, I requested to activate the Data Add-on Pack @2499_NRC.
After activating this add-on pack, I called the international roaming help line of Airell and argued that my data had been consumed too quickly. The representative informed me that I still had the full 5+5GB of data available to me. Knowing this, I briefed him about the message I received from your system, which forced me to activate the add-on pack.
I requested the call center representative to cancel the add-on pack request. He said he could not do this and advised me to switch off the data once I had consumed my initial 5GB and, upon returning to India, to file a complaint about the misleading message, which instigated me to activate the add-on pack, and they will help reverse the amount.
Following advice, I stopped using my data pack after consuming 3.8GB of my initial allocation. I then contacted the Airtel call center, explained the situation, and requested a reversal of the add-on data pack charges. Despite multiple complaints, Airtel has not reversed the charges.
As the due date for payment approached, I paid the bill in full to avoid service disruption. However, I believe this charge is unfair and would like your help in getting it reversed.
Please let me know if you need any further information to address this complaint.
Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
