[Resolved] Airtel — Internet broadband service | |||
I am in Bangalore, my account number is 14834656. I got a call from airtel in mid Dec 2016 offering a free upgrade of my existing 8Mbps broadband service to 40MBps at my existing rate (Rs1609 net p.m.), but they would have to first upgrade my ADSL modem to a VDSL modem. I agreed, next day Dec 16, a service technician came and installed a new Huawei Home Gateway modem/router. After it was installed, found I was getting approximately 50MBps on speedtest.net. A couple of weeks later, I was out of Bangalore for 3 days, came back to find no internet service. Registered complaint, first two staff workers were incompetent - had no idea how to configure this modem, one was telling me to configure my wifi. 3rd worker called after a couple days and told me it would be fixed in 5 minutes, as there was "a service order pending" on my account. It did come back online but now speed was only 10Mbps, and has stayed like that since. At same time (mid-January)outside my flat, I found several flyers defacing the lampposts and street signs advertising Airtel 40MBps, unlimited broadband with free router for Rs 999 !! While I am paying Rs1608 net p.m. for my 10Mbps line. Made several complaints, staff either incompetent, ignorant or this is deliberate bait and switch fraud. Last service call came from a technician who wanted to enter my flat to "install a Huawei Home Gateway modem" so i could get the higher speed ?! My written complaints to [protected]@airtel.com get standard response that my complaint has been referred to "concerned group". I have now written to [protected]@airtel.com telling them I will not be paying this months bill and asked them to terminate the service (as there does not seem to be any protocol for switching my account plan to one that benefits me) but have not received any acknowledgement.
