Airtel — recharged twice on same number

On 27th nov 2018 accidently my number was recharged twice with rs 119, once through retailer and then through paytm.

I called up airtel customer support and they said not to worry as the vailidity would be extended after one recharge expires.

After 28 days the validity has expired and no extension has been provided to me and airtel customer support are asking to me forget rs. 119 and recharge again.

What kind of scam is this?
