I recharged a few months back on my prepaid airtel connection Rs.550 for talktime.
Later I realised its totally a scam. Subsequent recharges never offered a simple validity extension. I was forced to buy a "unlimited calls + 1.5 gb/day" deals only. When I buy this, where is the need for using up the talk time? So I was looking for options to use this talk time balance for my next recharge. The payment options didnt include using the existing talktime balance.
Airtel is using this money as an FD without offering any interest rate. I am not sure how many customers money is held up by them in this way.
When I tried to contact them through the customer service number, their IVR doesn't give any option for complaints or talking to a customer service agent. Similarly the chat box is a dead end.
I wrote a few emails to the appellate as guided by TRAI site. Then I get a strange email reply - again an automated one - that the email is not linked to the phone number.
I am very amused that the Airtel is able to get away with such large scale misappropriation of consumer funds and TRAI is kept in the dark.
Please look into this matter and help in resolving the matter for me and the millions of other customers.
Thanking you.
Best regards
