Big Basket — arbitrarily cancellation of prepaid and accepted order for essential food, groceries and fruit etc

I am 68 years old person leaving with my 98 years old father, 71 years brother and 65 years old wife. I am also a "bbstar membership" holder on payment basis for getting a few preference.

On the onset of corona virus issue i placed an online order with bigbasket on 19.03.2020 and paid online. Bigbusket accepted the order vide their order no mkoo[protected] with delivery slot between 5-30 pm to 8 pm on 24th march 2020.

On 22rd march "janta curfew" was requested and on 22nd march a "lock down" was declarered commencing 23rd evening by pm sri narendra modi endorsed by cm smt. Mamta banerjee. However both pm and cm assured a number of times that essential items and food and daily requirement stocks are available and these will be available to the people and through online supply. Senior citizens ware advised not to venture out of home.

Unfortunately i received an email on 23rd march at 21-38 hrs from bigbasket stating that my above order was "cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances". It must have been for the shortage of staff who would have faced sudden jeopardy of the situation.

However when it was observed that online supplies resumed by online suppliers like amazon, goofers, including bigbusket (Selectively) i wrote to them that arbitrarily cancellation of my order is not accepted and they need to revoke their cancellation and arrange to supply in kolkata region before they resume to supply new order or order placed later then mine. My email in pdf form is attached for your kind perusal.

In spite of this they contacted and inform that they have already cancelled and can not revive it. And they are retaining my amount in my favour. I once again requested to execute my order once they resume supply.

Now to day at 13-38 hrs they informed me over sms that they are refunding my amount to my bank a/c which will be reflecting 7 to 8 days time.

This act of bigbasket in not only inhumane but also in total defiance to the assurance and instruction given by our pm sri narendra modi ji and our cm smt. Mamta banherjee ji. I am afraid this act of bigbasket in nothing but unfair trade practices and their unfriendly customer relation to put senior citizen to compel to visit crowded market place.

I once again request bigbasket to execute my above order at the earliest
