Charnock Hospital (Kolkata) is an account of the horror and misery that my family and my brother had endured. My brother was down with mild covid symptoms and under the fear of making it worse, we decided to admit him in Charnock hospital. His initial chest scan was clean and no worrying signs were discovered. He was put in the general ward and we hoped for his speedy recovery. This is where things started going downhill. 2 days after the admission, his blood oxygen level started dipping and the doctors decided to put him in ICU with moderate oxygen supply. They carried out no further tests of his viral load or chest scan to determine the severity and take appropriate action which at that time would have been to put him on high flow oxygen supply. They waited for a few days for his condition to deteriorate even further, and when they realized that things were getting out of control, they put him on high flow nasal supply. He immediately started feeling much better. While this whole saga unfolded in the ICU, they started to withhold information from the family members to hide their own mistakes, incompetence and inefficiency. We kept asking them for the clinical reports to consult other doctors but they kept denying our requests. All this while my brother was completely alone in isolation and no one could reach him. You would think that a hospital which claims to be a world-class superspeciality hospital can buy 10 mobile phones with front-facing cameras to let the patients speak with their loved ones. But no, all we could get was 4-5 minutes of call every other day. Can you imagine the depression that a covid patient would develop if she/he is not allowed to speak to anyone?
As his condition deteriorated even further, they said that they have requested Tocilizumab for my brother and they will administer it within 24 hours as directed by the West Bengal health ministry. They said that they had been looking for this drug for 8 days, but I do not believe that they were, otherwise they would have told my dad who was seeing the doctor every single day. After 24 hours, they said they could not get Tocilizumab and gave him an alternative called Bevacizumab. This medicine is known to induce minor heart attacks as I confirmed later from a senior doctor from Massachusetts General Hospital. My brother finally caved in and suffered two strokes (one after the other) and died in isolation.
My brother was in his mid-30s with no underlying illness. We and some senior doctors from other hospitals in Kolkata suspect that Charnock allowed his situation to get worse and tried to intervene at the absolute wrong moments. They also believe that this hospital is nothing but a money minting machine with no regard for the patients. If you have political connections or personally know the hospital upper management, then your story might be different. For a general public like us, we are part of the covid sacrifice to save a few rich folks at the top. I would not be surprised if we discover that they had Tocilizumab for my brother but chose to give it to someone they know or with influence.
I hope no one has to go through this painful ordeal which my family has witnessed over the last couple of weeks. Survival is not these "super-speciality" hospitals but the care of one-another.
Now I am just requesting that you should take some strict action against Hospital and these Medical Staff
    +1 photos
My experience of Charnock was very worse,
They are well versed in manipulating and lying
Unnecessarily charging money thinking that no one can caught them.

Sir, my humble request is that when I went to visit in the urology department at your Teghoria Dispensary, I was asked to do the COVID checking test first and when I did it I saw that they checked the weight and BP which they used to do but charged for rupees 150/- and said It will be taken every time as long as Covid situation will continue. So my request to you sir, no one knows how long the COVID situation will last, so don't impose unnecessary bill on patients in the name of COVID checking and make every effort to get rid of it. With regards, SUSANTA DAS

My father has been a dialysis patient at Charnok Kolkata hospital since 2014. From last year they have been charging extra for doctors visit, dialisers and tests which are supposed to be under the CGHS reimbursement policy. But in recent times they have been denying patients who are under the CGHS scheme and only attending the ones who are paying the fees himself. Hospital is claiming that the payment through CGHS takes time. Moreover they are charging fees on a daily basis for dialysis and dialisers. They're taking cash for all the monthly tests for the dialysis patients and also for the doctor. They're not going through the process of getting the fees from the CGHS.

I'm writing this complain for receiving inadequate services from this hospital. Time is valuable for everyone, so do for the patient's family also. But i think doctors here don't understand that. Patient's families are waiting here for a long time with severe tension but not getting the facilities timely. Behavior of the stuffs are very poor. We're not getting proper 'hospitality' in this hospital. Please di something as first as possible. As my patient is admitted here. And not in a good condition.
I am puja Kundu, Me and my mother went today to Charnock hospital for check-up as per doc Nirmalaya Bagchi’s advised. When we entered his cabin he was too busy and had no time to listen our problems so he said to my mother for lay down for some checking, suddenly he was shouting and used slang language on my mother because she told the operated area is paining.
My mother is suffering from high sugar and pressure, after this incident she shocked and more anxious.

Now tell me who will responsible for my mother’s health? How could he do with my mother? I am surprised to see his audacity. I believe Charnock will look over this and do show cause against this arrogant doctor. It’s very painful to me to call him as a doctor His language and behaviour was 3rd grade.
Hopefully Charnock definitely will take steps and will inform me otherwise I will take legal action as soon as possible.

Sir my wife is 3 months pregnant presently. On 1.4.2019 she has undergone usg by doctor at building no 1 of charnock hospital at 3.50 pm. After completion o[censored]sg the lady attendant heavily misbehaved with the patient (Here is my wife). After completion o[censored]sg of patient i had gone for a triple marker test after submitting requisite fees. The opd cell sent me at the usg department for that triple marker erroneously and when i met her at the usg room for this test with the attendant, she made typical humiliating and inflicting remarks in lieu of directing me right way. With regards...

Just have a question to the management:

1: for typhoid test what is the general charge???

For typhoid test you charged for 750 rupees and for others like dengue, malaria etc let me upload the receipt once it is acknowledged. Charnok hospital, this is really unexpected that you guys are killing people mentally. If you charge in such a way then people will be hopeless. Shame on you!!!

                Just answer this question?

                Thanks

These guys are cheats. Avoid going to this hospital unless you want your money and emergency situation to be suck by these frauds. Their whole intention is to extend your bill amount by all unnecessary tests and diagnosis. My wife was suffering from high fever and they did everything to screw us and make a bill of 27000 in 4 days. They gave us wrong update and updated that she is suffering from NS1 virus, however, next mroning it was updated that this was a wrong report. On complaining to the GM, we realised that she was the leadewr of the crime and gave all stupid rebuttals with extreme high air as if she has always been sitting to avoid complaints. Charnock Hospitals at VIP road in Kolkata. Becareful!!

Charnock is a place for infections, the OT and ICU are in same floor and side by side hence the infections are contracted to the patients easily.
Please avoid Charnock unless you have lot of money to spend. Unnecessary bills and cost.
I am also agreed with your point. In addition they are reckless, unprofessional and greedy for money. If you are going to consult in charnok hospital, before that you have to save atleast 10k . This is really ridiculous.

My contact number is [protected]. Please cooperate me . I am going to raise my voice to higher department.

                  Thanks

very poor service, highly chargeable, doctors r cheaters, toilets r full of smells, dirty nd completely un hygenic.staffs r very rude n poor management service..not visit again.
This is true, According to my experience Charnock is not trying to help their patients they try to make the situation worse and worse to charge more money and when this goes wrong they just say sorry and don't even handover the patients dead body,

This is just running a scam,
A enquiry should be conducted on these kind of hospitals.
