I applied for passport on Dec 2014 at BLS international Malaysia. And I did not receive my passport yet dated july2015.
The reason is Chennai RPO did not send police clearance to Malaysians yet. And they say they have sent they are only not looking at it properly.
Worst case is-we are having a good communication with Malaysians...

Lost passport in the passport office in shastri bhavan F8974213

I had given my passport to the passport official working in shastri bhavan passport office for renewal of new one, the passport official person demanded 7000 Rs where I refused to pay the amount, when I went to ask the status of passport that they are saying you should not given your passport to the passport official so they asked me to lodge a complaint againts the passport official the date which i had hand it over to the passport official isl13/6/2011, myPassport Number is F8974213, so I kindly request the passport official to do the need full things,

This is selva arunkumar.g. from chrompet chennai. but my native is kattumannarkoil cuddalore dist., i would applied passport past 2 years before. but my date of birth was wrongly entered. correct dob-16/10/1986., wrongly entered- 16/10/1988., i will check the passport to wrongly entered and then inform passport office at chennai near to lic opposite. but there not response to me, now i will go to tambaram office.there the customer enquiry person you can give the court order for this issue. but i got the all date of birth proofs including birth cerfificate.,
i wrote the application wrongly entered the date of birth. but you can check the details certainly will clear the issue at the time., but you also not working properly now how to i only issue the problem., please clear the problem. my all documents are correct date of birth. i submit the all documents if you clear the problem with out court order.

I request to you my Non-Received passport, I am applied for last 01/04/13, But I am not received my passport till date and I am come to inform to Royala Towers inform to Regional Passport Compliant Officer meet and inform many times but,
He says your certificate date was error so go get letter from your school.Then I goto my school inform that the Headmaster, and he was said I will send them corrected certificate letter to Regional passport office and Head Master gave them courier POD No.29500233 on 08.06.2013 through Professional Couriers.

I missed my Passport
I missed my passport while my travelling from Indian Bank situated at chennai in Aryagowda road.
I went to Indian Bank to submit some records for the loan submission but unfortunately I missed out my passport.

renewal of minor passport

I took my daughter who is a minor to the passport Seva Kendra Saligramam on 27/02/2014. Her file Number is: MA[protected]. I wanted to add my family name in her new passport. I submitted her 10th certificate which had the family name added as proof. But the application was put on hold by section C staff asking for an affidavit and name change news paper advertisement. When I went with those details on 04/03/2014, I was asked to meet the APO. She verified the documents and asked for a letter from the school, as to how her name was changed in the 10th certificate. Again my daughters file is put on hold. Now I have to go another day, just for this. Every time we go, we meet a new person, who comes up with a new query. I don't know what problem they will come up with in my next visit. Looks like each one has their own rule. What one staff says we don't need, the other staff in the next counter says we need. Already we are put through so many sections and verifications, so I ask sir, to look into the matter and instruct the passport office staff to be courteous and tell us what they exactly need in the first visit itself as it takes half a day for the procedure. Thank you.

delaying of reissue of passport

i applied Reissue passport on 20/11/2013. 13/12/2013 police verification over in krishnagiri. i visited 3 times went RPO CHENNAI office i showed visa and requsted them. but till now no proper reply, last week i get from employer, letter i[censored] before 20th dec your not send your passport copy your job will cancel.
all my emegency i send/communicate to help desk of passport office on phone and mail to rpo chennai. but till now am not get proper reply, or specific time also not get . this delay my job will be ???? now.everybody knows, nowadays getting job is very difficut for middle class family.

i got passport on 01/01/2014. But my permit visa was expired dubai. now no job for me .getting passport was too late so i missed job in abroad. thanks for passport RPO office staffs. b.siva s

Unnecessary Initiation of Police Verification for exempted categories

Sir,
I am to state that I am a Central Government employee applied for issue of a fresh Passport online. I got an appointment with the PSK, Saligramam, Chennai on 14.10.2013. Being a Central Government servant, I submitted Identity Certificate in Annexure-B obtained from my employer as a supporting document. As per the guidelines and instructions issued by the CPV Division of MEA, New Delhi vide CIRCULAR No.VI_401_01_05_2008 dt.05.10.2009, the Passport in a such a case should be issued to me without police verification. But, they have initiated police verification on post PV basis. By doing so, the very purpose of producing Identity Certificate in Annexure-B is defeated. At the same time, this overrides the guidelines issued by the MEA, New Delhi and causes insult to the applicant and the certifying authority who issued the Identity certificate in Annexure-B.
Hence, I wish that the police verification on post PV basis which has been initiated by the PSK, Saligramam in my case may kindly be withdrawn and suitable remedial action needed in this regard.

You should address your grievance to RPO Chennai. But being a govt employee also understand there must be a reason for MEA officilas to initiate police enquiry and it is well within there purview to do so.

I totally agree with you, I am also a Central Government Employee and recently submitted my application for reissue of Passport (PSK TAMBARAM) in Nov 2013 and also submitted Annexure B / Identity Certificate, still even my process is initiated on Post Police Verification Basis.
When the process is so simplified dont know why MEA initiated the Post Police Verification process, even the Verifying Officer told me there wont be any Police Verification still i received email stating that Police Verification will be done within 3 weeks but my passport is printed and will be despatched.

Over 8 months delay

I don't know where to start! What a hopeless place is Chennai Passport Office. My husband lost his passport in UK. He could not get it done over there, so officers advised him to come back to Chennai and apply for reissue passport.
So he got an emergency certificate and came back to India. He applied for passport on 10.02.2011. Officers told him it will take maximum 3 months. My husband put his job in UK on hold. He said he will be back in 3 months time. His boss agreed to this and he was looking forward to return to work.
After 3 months of waiting he still didn't get passport. Due to that, he lost his job in UK. Police verification has been done in June! At least we had hope that passport will be done soon. Wrong!
We tried to contact some higher people, who personally know someone from Passport Office. Because they never picked the phone up and never reply to any mails...Finally we've got mobile number to lady who works there. She said she will try and help but for this she asked money... 5000Rs!
Husband said he will give her once he will get the passport. Ok. The women said that some documents are need to be send to UK Indian Embassy.So she sent it, through Delhi Passport Office. I really dont know why, but now my husband's documents are in Delhi. Its been like this since August. We cant contact Delhi, because the number they given is only for Delhi residents... They also did not replay for emails...Now its middle October and my husband still without passport. Its been over 8 months. Please for god sake, someone help us!!!

Personal — Delay of Passport over 8 months
Sir,My mother Mrs.Leela Subhash applied for a new passport on 03 June, 2008 from the Nagercoil Collector's office. We got the receipt of it following by the police verification the next month.
Since then there is no response from the Madurai passport office. We tried to contact through all the means but there is not even ONE to give PROPER RESPONSE. We also tried checking the status through internet, but it said that there is NO INFORMATION AVAILABLE.
I would like to know what exactly do we have to do next.
Please do the needful to get the passport immediately.

I got an offer to work in abroad so i have to renew my passport and i met the person Hemanathan(Passport Garanting Officer) but he refused to do it since i had all the documents ready and he is not willing to answer patiently to our questions.
We have waited in the queue since 5.30 in the morning and still we cant get our work done and the person who is issuing the token treats us badly.
There is no proper response from anybody working there,if we want to meet RPO then also his P A is asking r u a VIP only then u can meet him.
whole day got wasted there but not even a piece of work done there.
Even we have many work to do and our time is also precious so action has to be taken on Hemanathan(passport garanting officer) and the person issuing token.

Minor Passport delay for 4.5 months

We have applied passport for our minor daughter on Feb 7 2011 in regular mode. It is almost 4.5 months and still we didn't receive the passport. I have bunked the office(Bearing loss of pay) visited 5 times and every time , i was standing in a status enquiry queue for nearly 2 hours. After meeting APO II in the third visit , she told that passport will be dispatched in 15 days, as there is no issue with our file. As we didnt receive in the time limit specified by them, again visited the APO II, after 2 hours wait in queue , He asked to come back at 4 PM to verify the file o[censored]s. But he could not get our file from the corresponding section till 5. 30 PM. I have approached the section officer because of the RPO interference in this issue, he told that the passport will be delivered in 10 days. But till now i didn't receive it. Because of my daughter's passport delay, i am keep on delaying my onsite visits for every day. And we have frustrated a lot. What these people exactly expect from us. If they are capable of delivering a tatkal passport even in 3 days, What else stops them to process a minor passport which does not required police verification report.
As my spouse resides abroad, we are planning to travel as early as possible.
Really i feel frustrated of going to chennai rpo again to know the status of the passport.
It would be great if some one could help us to resolve this.

Passport Services at Chennai — Delay of a minor passport !!
Dear All,I think i'm representing a lot of people in this issue. Below is a mail, I tried sending to the highest authority resposnible for hearing such issues. However, it is no surprise that the mail bounced back from this ID also.

Greetings !!
I’m a 28yr old citizen of India, Chennai. It’s a very sad situation that I have to bring to notice the following grievances faced by my family & me for obtaining the passport for my 3month old baby:
During the application:
a. Firstly, there is no clear indication on the 2nd floor of the Chennai office on which queue the applicant should stand on. How do you expect people to find out?
b. I would like to know the role of the security personal in the 2nd floor. Is it to coordinate the people or control the crowd or both? Because most o[censored]s there have a feeling that he was not able to perform any of these duties. For instance, he displays barbarism in this behavior when talking to people big and small nor does he clearly tell where one needs to join the queue. A single line seems to have multiple openings. So I want to know if the authorities have designated him with the power of humiliating citizens?
c. The designated appointment time was 3rd May'10 at 10:30am and I was there are much ahead of the time. In spite of that me and all the others (senior citizens) where made to wait until 14:30hrs before the line could start and my turn got completed only at 16:45hrs. Can you imagine if you have to wait for 1 complete working day? I would like to know if this is the case, why do you have an appointment system? Is it malfunctioning, if yes what is being done to correct it?
d. Once I reached the hall where the application needs to be submitted, it was even worse than the busiest fish markets in India..it was in a total kiosks with people try to jump lines, overly crowded, etc..what is the security personal doing within the hall. He is on a chit-chat with someone and once in a while without realizing who is correct and who isn’t, he simply drops by to embarrass people. Can you please explain who is the cause of this mismanagement?
e. After waiting for about 6hrs when I submitted the application, the lady opposite the counter spend less than 60 seconds to see my form, make and assessment and haul at me telling that the babies thumb impression was sufficient on the 1st pages and the parents signature wasn’t required (we had a parents signature & babies impression both). So she refused to accept and my papers came flying outside the little glass opening. Can you imagine how it feels to wait for 6hrs for this, have the authorities designated her the power not just to assess the forms but also hurt the sentiments of any citizen. Finally, I was asked to come on the next day with the old application & a new one also.
f. I made things ready and knowing how things function at the Passport office, I made my arrangements at office by informing that I would be on leave (and forcefully bear a loss of pay). The previous day the lady had informed me to come directly to the counter and submit the form; so as per her instructions I did so. But the actual fun was there were people who had appointments but were unable to trace the beginning of the queue and there were a few like me (backlog cases) trying to accommodate ourselves also. So the big question is whose turn is it 1st. And as expected the security personal is least bothered about this and he just comes once in a while to argue with the wrong people. I must say luckily I made it to the counter and as soon as she got my form, she asks where is the current dates seal on the form? I told her it was she who asked me to come directly with the documents and so did I. So I was asked to go back, get the seal and join the line again. That’s fine, now what’s interesting is that the person who stamps the papers appears only once every hour; stamps and vanishes. However I was lucky I did not have to wait for an hour for him. Once I got the seal, I went back and struggled my way through the crowd and the queue and waited for my turn. When my form was examined I was told that the corrections where correct, but the new application was not an Internet application (because the reference number was missing on it). I had purchased the application from the passport office. However, the original application had the reference number. Now, there are no prizes for guessing that I was sent back and asked to come the following day with a new application.
g. Finally on a another day (after bunking office) I appeared the 3rd time assuming that I’m 100% prepared and after the usual struggle and hassles as mentioned above reached my counter. Alas, my application was accepted without much questions and to the officer in charge all seemed right. This time my assumption turned out to be right.
Post application issues:
a. It’s been nearly 55days and so far we have not heard a single word from the authorities of the status of the passport.
b. I have requested for the status at the following official email IDS, however till date there has been no response to my email.

c. My wife has had to visit the passport office a couple of times leaving behind the infant, for more than 3hours standing in queues just to know the status. This has also not resulted in any fruitful outcome and the officer there simply told that the status was not visible on the system at that point of time…however the passport would be delivered within 5days. It’s been beyond a week now. Can you imagine the plight of an woman who has given birth to a child only a couple of months and has to go through this sort of a trauma in a government office.
d. The Tamil Nadu passport office websites shows the following numbers as “Contact Us”:

Believe me Sir, I have been trying and trying to get connected at least one of these numbers, but none seem to function. Also, the Tele-Enquiry number is an invalid number. I’m really surprised how can an important government office have such a mistake when in numerous people rely on such services.
e. When I try to check the status online, to my surprise I see that the section reads ‘Last updated as on 03rd JUNE 2010’. Sir, as mentioned above its really surprising that this basic update is not done in real time. Are all the applicants facing issues forced to visit the Passport office to enquire just the status?

Sir what I have documented above is not just my story, in reality this is the plight of many and many such people who apply for passports. I’m not sure how it functions, but I do understand simple laws of life that it is not a free service, but an expensive one for a common man and certainly the government has many mandatory and vital formalities involved before it can issue an passport to any of the citizen. However, what I fail to understand is that why is the experience of obtaining a passport made traumatic? Why does this system function like a BLACK-BOX? If people working within the office are frustrated answering or assisting the applicants then my assumption is that they must look for alternative careers, because the chair that they occupy is meant to server people and not harass them. The intention of my mail is not just to obtain the passport for my kid & get away (or) either to point fingers at any particular individual; rather my intent is to bring in front of you my personal experience which is nearly the same of many-many more people. And, I appreciate if you take realistic steps and measures to personally look into these issues and have them solved at the grass root level; so that the thousands of people applying daily are saved from such horrific experiences.
Please excuse me if my language has not be rational and if I have hurt any sentiments.
Hoping you would recognize the agony of a common man and help find a way out.

Lost gold bracelet at chennai passport office

I had gone to chennai passport office to apply for a tatkal passport and due to the inefficient and erratic staff at the office i was made to run from pillar to post just to submit my application and after i did that in 2 days time i foiund that i was relieved of my gold bracelet at the office.So just to apply a passport i have lost more than Rs20000.Excellent customer service by the central government!!!

I DIDN'T GET MY CHILD PASSPORT AS PER TIMELINE

I applied passport for my child on 30th December 2010 under TATKAAL Scheme File Reference Number XXXXXX but still i didn't get my child passport, almost 20 working days are gone.
I have been paid Rs.2,100 for this FRESH Passport under TATKAAL Scheme, as per your processing time it should be only 7 Days. I dont know why i didn't get the passport still.
There is no purpose to check the status in Internet, for the past 15 days its mentioned as "Police Verification Waived. File is under Process".

Passport Office - Chennai — didn't get my passport
I applied for passpoet in chennai regional passport office on 15/04/2010. Police enquiry was also over in the july month and I dint yet receive my passport. I submit my passport renewal application on Jan14 2011 on ordinary basis. Today I thought to check status through online facility given by passport. I got shock it shows as

I applied for my child passport on 4th October, 2013 after getting clearance in Chennai RPO. Police clearance was done and submitted by commissioner office to Chennai RPO. Now the status says "Police clearance certificate under review by Chennai RPO. Once review gets completed, passport will be issued." Tried to contact the Chennai RPO about the time line for review, but no one picks up the phone. I don't know how long RPO will take to review the POlice clearance certificate.
Am shocked to see the attitude of the government office . Action needs to be taken against those who indulges in delay in review .

Chennai Passport Office - Least care about applicants

I had to apply for a PCC at the Chennai RPO. So after referring to the website I came to know that I had to submit a proof of residence and a proof of identity. I had taken with me my Passport copy(ID proof) and EB bill (Address proof). Since I do not have a ration card or voter ID in Chennai address I had carried the EB bill. But after reaching there at the counter, I was informed that EB bill would not suffice for an address proof. Then I showed my RC book, they said that would not do. Then finally, I was asked to produce my bank statement. I rushed to a neighbouring Internet centre and printed out my latest bank statement(which showed my present address) and showed the concerned person at the counter. By then,the counter was closed.
Please note that the counter for Misc services at Chennai RPO functions from 9:30 to 12:30 only. What about the hundreds of people who come all their way to submit an application? What if the queue doesn't take them till the counter within this short duration? Why do they limit the service application reception duration as 3 hours per day? Is it not totally absurd?
Okay, coming back to my experience, I was asked to come the next day. The next day again after waiting in the queue I met the ladya t the counter at 10:30(though I had joined the queue at 9),On showing the docs, along with the bank statement that ws requested for on the previous day, there was another shock awaiting me. She told me that this is NOT THE BANK STATEMENT THAT THEY WERE EXPECTING. In thier language, a bank statement is an authorization letter attested and provided by the Bank manager. Had she informed me that this is what they wanted, I would have tried to bring it the next day, but she told me about this on the secind day only. So I went to my base branch (which is far from the Chennai RPO), waited at the bank and by the time I got the required letter, it was already 2PM. So I had to go again on the 3rd day. After waiting for my turn in the queue, when I showed her my application and docs, she said that jsut the letter would not suffice, but she wanted the previous 12 months bank statement. I really wonder what they are going to do with my past 1 year's bank statement ! (as though I had applied for a loan and they are checking for my credibility!!). So again I went to a nearby branch and got my bank statements printed. And finally criss-crossed the queue(since I had waited in the queue since morning before being sent to the bank and moreover I had no patience to come the next day).. She then accepted my application, scribbled something on my application and sent me to the payment counter.
I had applied for a PCC misc service, which costed Rs.300. But in the payment counter I ws billed Rs.600. When enquired I was tole that, the scribbling done on my application form in the previous counter was for 2 services - PCC and a Change of address. Though I had not requested for thr latter, looks like Change of address had to be done before the PCC could be done, bcoz the place where I originally got my passport and my present residence are different. To my surprise, I came to know this big fact only at the last stage, the lady at the previous counter must have clearly pointed this out on the first day itself. Anyways, my submission and payment work was done and I walked out in relief.
With the bitter experience I had, I want to highlight the following BIG MINUS POINTS about the Passport office functioning:

1) Office staff are hardly fit to sit there and interact with people. They dont do justice to the roles they ply.Applicants are treated with least respect. I am talking, in particular, about the lady who dealt with my application. She sits in the second floor first counter of Miscellaneous services(at Chennai RPO Shashtri Bhavan). She literally scolds the applicants, as how a teacher scolds a student. They need to understand that people of all cadres do come there and they need to be treated appropriately. For instance, an uneducated person whi comes with an application from, must be given proper guidance patiently. Instead, she shouts at such people. Similarly, educated pepople need to be provided the extra info that is required, in case something is missing from their side. Instead, they are also mercilessly being shouted at and sent back to come the next day without any concern.
2) Office staff doesn't seem to help the applicants by providing needed info, instead it seems like they are finding a way to reject their application fro the time-being and meet the next applicant, and finally finish off theeir daily routine quickly.
3) Since the job of the staff at various counters is a routine one, they could very well PUT ON A SMILING FACE and kindly talk to applicants on what is needed. Literally, all the applicants are scared to approach the lady at the counter, due to her ill-temper and unapproachable nature.Applicants also do have self-rrespect, the staff at the counters need to understand that. EVen the security guards at various floors are shouting at the applicants, by using bad language. It is really disheratening to look at.
4) The office timings are not being adhered to by t he office staff themselves. There is only one lady at the Misc services payment counter and her duty timings for this particular service is from 9:30 to 12:30. But on the day that I went, she came at around 10:30 (making ppl wait in Q fro more than an hour) and what was more irritating was she was shouting at people at around 12 that she had to close the counter by 12:30 and asked ppl not to further add to the Q that had alreay formed.
5) Info provided in the Passport office official website is either outdated or insufficent.No proper guidelines given in the Passport office official website as to what are the necessary documents required for various services. In fact, the docs specified in the website become insufficient/irrelevant when it comes to reality
6) Telephone enquiry is also not being answered properly, if at all we are the lucky call to get connected(since the lines are engaged most of the time).
One more sarcstic thing that I noticed is that, there is a 'complaints & Suggestions' box kept at the Passport office secind floor, but the place where its kept .. about 8 feet high from floor its hung in between the two lady staff sitting at adjacent counters..probably so that none dares to lodge a complaint in that rusted box, leave aside taking action on the lodged complaints!!
My final word of say for all this type of annonying behaviour is that:
--> Office staff should be given proper training as to how to deal with people.
--> If frequent complaints are received against a particular person, he/she should be SEVERELY PUNISHED or even suspended/dismissed. But since it will never happen as it is a government job and no firing could occur, the staff have started to take it granted and treat the public as they please.
This is my personal emotional outburst, due to the worst experience I had recently at the passport office. This was just the experience faced when I went to apply for a passport service. I dont know how many such experiences are awaiting me, before I receive my Passport back with the required services done!

I am surprised how you managed to go through each and every step exactly as I went through.
1) Passport and EB
2) Online Bank statement

5) Finally PCC and COA although I had requested only for PCC.
I had to rush to the base branch to get the letter from the bank and by the time they closed the counter.
I applied for PCC on 8-Dec-2010. I have not yet got my passport. I strongly agree, i even dont mind completely they restructure the chennai passport office.
Considering the number of applicants, they should increase the number of staffs, Counters, 24 hours services, call centers etc..etc.. (should be expanded 5 times bigger ).
Passport re-issue process is outdated one, and they should re-valudate the rules.

God only Can Save chennai passport office.
Similar experience for misc services. No guidance. you need to wait in the Q for 2 hrs and once u reach the counter they say documents are not right.. over and above that if i ask if x documents would suffice, she says i will accept those, but when you bring if i am not there i do not know whether the other person will accept it.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I had applied for my kid (6 years old) passport renewal in April 2008 and not receieved the passport till date (29 Jan 2009).
Since we can't contact Chennai Passport Office over phone (either no one picks up or always busy!) or through email (no resonse even after requesting several times in regular intervals!), twice (Aug & Nov) went personally spent half-a-day both times to get the status that the passport will be sent in next 10 days. So many 10 days have gone but no update. The passport request online status was 'Your File Under Progress' till Nov. Now it shows "Dealing Section Marked Movement on Your File" for the last 2 months.
I am completely helpless. Even after waiting for 10 months, don't know when will the passport be issued and whom should I contact further. Not sure why this dept is left to perform like this!
Kindly request your help. The File Number is F008168 dated 15-Apr-2008.

we always helpless with all govt departments.
when i talk about passport office my pressuer is increase. worth less peoples are working there. i dont knwo how to tell very very very worst service they giving. better clouse the passport office no need like this passport for indian. no need to go forign.

actually the " may i help counter" or the inquiry are just for status checking only. u can check that status from home in net.
You do first write letter for meet PRO and go the same queue get appointment for PRO, pl don't accept any information form the inquiry, only you must get appointment to meet PRO from Inquiry. Then u can get appointment the same day at 2PM. After that u go and meet PRO at 2nd floor at 2PM. they will take your application form file. In front of them u can clear your problem. really the officers nice and help full tous in 2nd floor, but the inquiry people totally waste.

You do first write letter for meet PRO and go the same queue get appointment for PRO, pl don't accept any information form the inquiry, only you must get appointment to meet PRO from Inquiry. Then u can get appointment the same day at 2PM. After that u go and meet PRO at 2nd floor at 2PM. they will take your application form file. In front of them u can clear your problem. really the officers nice and help full tous in 2nd floor, but the inquiry people totally waste.

JAN 2008 i have applied a new passport in chennai for my wife.after 6 month police verification was over but still didnot receive the passport.then again last dec 2008 we contacted again and reapplied by submitteing all doc again.Feb2009 police enquiry again over but still we didnot get.

I am Senthil Chandrasekar. i applied passport in chennai from nilgiri passport office on june 2008. file number MASZ700791. I attend the verification in permanent and temperary address in two Polish station(permanent-Kullacombai(Nilgiri), temperary - kumiamuthur(cbe). After the polish verification they send my DD is expired in december to my college address.I took new DD Send back to Passport Officer in january 2009. My passport status is "THERE ARE SOME DEFICIENCIES IN YOUR APPLICATION. PLEASE CONTACT .P.R.O. OF THIS OFFICE " in september 2009. After that i went passport office chennai, and meet PRO and give two persional perticular form for my permanent address. they verified my family card and return to me... Again i call from kullacombai polish station for verification ..and till now the status not varied... now can i reapply for passport in coimbatore? any procedure to cancel the previous passport application to reapply? please give response to me... i need passport urgently because i placed in one software company. they asked passport also.

Chennai RPO — Delay in Passport processing
I have applied for passport reissue for me on 6-May-2010 and my son on 21-Apr-2010. Both are police verification exempted cases as it is a reissue and they have put the PVR exempted stamp in my application while veriifcation at the counter.But they appear in statuses like "Your police report has not been received. Application is in process" and "File Under Process" respectively.
For the minor passport applied on 21-Apr-2010, the status is 'File Under Process' for over one month now.
All i could guess is that the authorities might have gone on vocation during summer time given that they have 40-50 leave/year and can accumulate upto 300 days. May be they should have a status like "On Vocation, will be addressed later"..
I have mailed many times to pptgrievance quoting file numbers with no help. Is there any way out now?

Did you check with the police who did the inspection? has he sent the documents back?

Delay in issue of passport(more than 2 years)

I had applied for a passport on 1st September ’08 from Vellore passport cell (I was a student in VIT University). Despite lapse of over two years, I have not been issued with my passport, nor have I been informed of any reasons for non issue. There was no response from officials despite sending many mails and trying to contact on phone.
Non issue of passport is adversely affecting my career prospects as I am unable to pursue my higher studies abroad nor am I able to give exams like GRE, ILETS etc. In view of the above, I wish to request to furnish following information to me:-
1) Whether or not my valid application for issue of passport is registered with you vide file number Z155936, key number – Vellore, Date – 01 September 2008.
2) Has any intimation been given by authorities concerned regarding non processing of my passport application due to any reasons, what so ever. If yes, details thereof.
Reasons, if any, for not issuing the passport till now.
I request you to understand my problems and look into the matter as soon as possible. I would be highly grateful to you.

PASSPORT OFFICE — delay of more than 1nd half year in processing of passport
I priya ranjan singh had applied for a passport in patna office through "darbhanga application collection center ". The application no. was G004761/09. the date of application was 26/06/09.but i didnt got a call for police verification till now.In june of 2010 i enquirered in the patna office they told me that the police report was adverse so i need to submit a affidavit for that . i submitted the affidafit in june 2010. but still i didnt get any call for police verification.
then i tried calling the patna passport office but 80% of time they didnt respond or they simply tell on our system its given that your police verification is adverse.
then i mailed to patna passport officer about my problem & sent a copy to HEAD office too but i got no reply from any of them.

I had submitted fresh passport application for my 2nd daughter (new born baby) VINAYA PRAKASH on 09.06.10 at Chennai Regional Passport Office. The file reference is MASF01114710 and Key Reference is [protected]
Till 2 days back i.e. on 12.07.10, the passport status enquiry was showing last updated date was 03.06.10 Now today (14.07.10) showing status last updated is 01.07.10 but I am unable to see the status of my daughter's passport. It is showing some error message. I have tried many times and not able to see status.
My Wife and 1st daughter are having valid Oman (Muscat) residence VISA. My 1st daughter is studying here in Muscat and her school is re-opening on 25.07.10 and I have to arrange VISA for my 2nd daughter VINAYA PRAKASH before 4th week of this month. For this purpose my daughter VINAYA PRAKASH passport is required on priority basis.
The above is self explanatory and hope clarifies the urgency of the passport requirement.
I request you to kindly arrange to take it up with the concered authority and arrange to do the needful for issuance of my daughter's pssport on urgent basis.

There are many complaints reg. Passport issue delay and a well known bribing issues during police verification. Does this site address any issues, can we find a remedy ? A terrorist will get passport easily but a genuine Indian citizen need to undergo great stress and pain to get a passport. A great tragedy.
I'm one person in that tragic situation waiting for a passport for months now.
Will the goverment abolish police verification and find a alternative genuine verification process.

I have applied for my passport on june 2009 and my file No: B 019224 and they said after three month u ll get verified by police and all .. No one yet came even i logged written complaint to passport office too... with another police officer but no response and after few days i came to know that they have lost my application form... now please help to solve my prob... and i requested to payback my DD amount of rupees but that too is not possible they saying.. and even i cant able to apply for new application...
i was very upset because of irresponsible work has been carried in chennai passport office...please please kindly help me to get my passport... i need it very urgently... i'm in trouble now.....waiting for u r reply.....

The worst government service

Chennai Passport office is the worst ever seen place in central government office. myself and my wife went and struggled a long in the queue to apply for spouse name update. There is no proper queue clearance security. no proper inquiry counter, no proper rules, no proper officials to guide people in the process.
We had to go the next day early in the morning 6:00 Oclock and we waited long with no food and tea. 9:30 is the counter opening time and the irresponsible officials came in at 10:15 and the crowd started to get unruly and there again was a mess.
When will this change??????? will the Government officials improve their standards????????
And after all process, the cashier said that the passport will be sent through postal and i have'nt received it yet.
Please privatize this operation. i don't mind spending extra 300 bucks, but i cannot waste 3 days of my office working hours.

I completely agree. This is most chaotic government office I have ever come across. The people are thoroughly dehumanised. In one room where his/her majesties APO sit there is a crowd of more than 100 people in 100 sq.feet room. Even a normal person would get a heart attack. The attitude of governmetn official need not be told it is implicit.
Totally agree. Its the worst government office I have ever seen in my life. Attitude of the staff is patheticand they treat people like dogs. Wait for 8 hours and get a mouthful from the staff at every phase for nothing. These people should be thrown away and privatised young team should be brought in.

I'm vinodh kumar, applied passport on Feb 08, still not yet received my passport. I completed all the verification by Mar 08 itself.But they lost my report from salem(Permanent address).
Few months ago, In the chennai office they asked me to fill up a CC form, again they came for verification and still not yet received my passpore. No one is responding properly. when i enquired in salem office they asked me to do the enquiry in coimbatore office(present address). when i do so in coimbatore office they're directing me to enquire in chennai office.
I dont know what the hell is happening?.. It seems, They are playing with me.

ONE AND HALF YEAR DELAY IN MY PASSPORT
I am RAVICHANDRAN B , studying final year in National Institute of technology , trichy. I had applied for my passport in chennai last year(2008) , but still i didn get my passport. Its been more than one and half year since i applied.I came four times to chennai passport office but couldn get any response. i already missed my educational tour to srilanka organised during my training dude to delay...I have an option of studying abroad , anyone have any idea on how to progress further?

last week i went to Chennai passport office to change my damaged passport in Thatkal.i got '"D" Counter token to submit my application form.on that counter there is a worker called Ganesan.He is unnecessarily harassing and threatening people who are on the Que with very teasing words and attitude.people were there was uneducated and coming from urban places are his most victims. Because of his unclear eyesight and attention if the people has the proper document also he is them to prepare it again and again.But anybody comes with the recommendation like CBI officers and some calls on the phone,he blindly approves the document.Am an common man.i was only able to let you know what's happening there.

Nice job, keep up the work. I lost my father and my mother is by herself in Coimbatore. In February, after one year my dad passed away I made arrangements for my mother to come stay with us in US for 6 months with her grand children.
She came from Coimbatore to Chennai and after checking in the luggage and during the immigration process she was stopped and her passport was impounded. They did not give the reason why it was done. She had a valid passport from 1997 with 20 years validitiy. My late father passport serial number is close to my mother's. She stayed in Chennai and visited the passport office and tried to find the reason. They said in 1999 they had come for verification and never heard after that. My parents once visited us in 1998 with the same passport. So my mother filled out an application form and they said it will take anywhere from 15 to 20 days, so she went back to Coimbatore.
She had been waiting for over a month and never had heard from them. Is there anybody who can help us?

Is there any way to get my passport which I applied with Chennai RPO on 15-Apr-08. It is more than 7 months since I applied for my passport. Police verification was done long back. Now they are saying they have misplaced my file. Is there any workaround to get my passport? Any sort of help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

anyone please ask officers to attend customers...or just cut the office phone lines which are meant for customer care...but are used for chatting with friends and relatives

i applied Reissue passport on 20/11/2013. 13/12/2013 police verification over in krishnagiri. i visited 3 times went RPO CHENNAI office i showed visa and requsted them. but till now no proper reply, last week i get from employer, letter i[censored] before 20th dec your not send your passport copy your job will cancel.
all my emegency i send to help desk of passport office on phone and mail to rpo chennai. but till now am not get proper reply, or specific time also not get . this delay my job will be ???? now.

delay in getting minor passport
Respected Sir/ Madam,
I had applied for my daughters passport for reissual in August 2008. Although the forms were checked by the passport officer after a month the application status showed as some document was lacking. The necessary document was submitted & the officer assured me that I will get the passport within 3 weeks time. On 17/ 11/ 2008, I received one of my daughters passport but yet to receive the otherpassport which i had given for processing together.I am really distressed as I don't know how to proceed further to get the passport urgently. I need to travel overseas along with my family shortly.

Yes, I am having the same experience in getting my daughter's minor passport. I hadd applied for the minor passport on 06-Jan-2010 and at the time of application, I was told the wait time is only 45 days (maximum). Now, it is more than 60 days and I am yet to receive the minor passport. As of yesterday the status is "Your file in Under process" and this has been the status since my application was submitted 2 mnths ago. Due to this delay, I have now lost 2 opportunities to travel to the US. My visa stamping is also delayed.

6 months delay in Passport issuance- reference W180304 / 08
The following passport application was applied for on Mar 1 2008 at Chennai RPO

The police verification was completed on May 9 2008.
It has been more than 6 months now since the passport was applied for.
The status for last 3 months has been "Your police report is Clear. Application is under process "
Why is there a delay ? Do passport officials need any more documents from us ?
We are not sure when we can expect to recieve the passport.
My wife needs to travel as soon as possible in order to join me at onsite.

I am in receipt of your above letter and noted the contents therein.
I would like to bring to your kind information that, on 7th May, 09, myself came in person and contacted the Regional Passport Officer, as advised by your letter (F.No : MASA[protected] dt. 02.04.09. All the relevant documents / informations / clarifications / queries, raised in your above letter had been provided from my side and was also asked to pay the penalty of Rs.1500/-, concurrently paid as penalty and the proof signatures on the letter is enclosed herewith for your ready kind reference. Inspite of our subsequent follow up to your regional passport office, and our subsequent email dt. 19th Oct, 09, indeed, I was astonished to receive a letter like this stating “Closing of my application”.
Incontestably, don’t understand, why such confusions in the Regional Passport Office, after all apparent verifications done by the respective personnels. Kindly look into the matter seriously to proceed further to enable me to receive my Passport status at the earliest.
Please find enclosed proof copies for your reference and scrutiny.
Since we can't contact Chennai Passport Office over phone (either no one picks up or always busy!) or through email (no response even after requesting several times in regular intervals!), twice (Apr & May) went personally spent half-a-day both times to get the status that the passport will be sent in next 10 days. So many 10 days have gone but no update. The passport request online status,
"Following objection has been raised on Your file. Please furnish explanation for suppression of material information in the appplication regarding the previous passport held by you." for the last few months.
I am completely helpless. Even after waiting for 7 months, don't know when will the passport be issued and whom should I contact further. Not sure why this dept is left to perform like this!
Kindly request your help. The File Number is A004808 / 09 dated 7th May 2009.
