My sister in law was seeing Doctor Khundavi who has been working as a gynaecologist in MMM for a very long time. She used to go there for regular checkups and the Doctor used to be very irregular during appointments and sometimes on leave and the hospital wouldn't even inform the patients about the Doctor's leave. Towards her 9th month and close to her delivery, the doctor mentioned that she is in a very complicated situation and the water levels are very low and the baby needs to be removed immediately and to get admitted. They made up their mind and was ready to get admitted listening to the doctor. They asked her to take Covid-19 test and her results were positive. We were all shocked to see that as my sister in law never stepped out of the house during her entire pregnancy period and went only to the hospital for checkup.

The hospital declined her admission there since they don't treat covid mothers and referred her to a bigger and most expensive hospital which is MGM healthcare. MGM healthcare Doctor Lakshmi told the exact opposite of what Khundavi told that they baby still would take 3 weeks to come out and is not yet ready to be delivered. However, she needs to be admitted for those 3 weeks even though she is asymptomatic. When enquired how much would the hospital charges be they mentioned it would be around 18 lakhs and we had to pay the amount upfront. This has become a business for many hospitals and Doctors get a commission when referring a patient.

When we told we cannot afford so much money and we would keep her at home and do a home quarantine, the hospital threatened saying they would send a report to government stating patient denied admission and that she will be quarantined in a government facility for 3 weeks. We still wanted to take that risk since we were very sure that her covid test results are all fake by this time. So we went back home, took a test in a government facility and they also mentioned that since she is pregnant they will not take her to any government centre for quarantine. Tow days later we got the results from ICMR and it was NEGATIVE.

Hospitals like MMM and MGM healthcare should be sealed because they play with pregnant mothers mind during their vulnerable period and put them in a very stressful situation. MY sister in law personally went through a lot because of the whole thing and was under mental breakdown.

I had admitted by dad in mmm (Madras medical mission hospital) multiple times for treatment from the time he was diagnosed for heart failure. The treatment, the staff nurse and the doctors were always been good but every time we discharge it goes like this.
Doctors confirm discharge in the morning. And suggest test to take before.
There will be no room boys available for wheelchair and it delays
