          Hello,

I am recently approaching for marriage certificate in nmc dhantoli zone nagpur. Why they only accept application on tuesday only twice in month? It will take now month from now to submit documents and other few weeks to actual document. Since we can now process thousands of application in day for adhaar or passport. Please look into slow working staff.

            Hello,
I have recently registered my marriage (Marriage serial number 56 of year 2011) at Davidson Street Registrar office in Chennai. I have received a 'True Extract of Hindu Marriage Register Kept By the marriage registrar office' - a 6 page document.
I was expecting a single page certificate with photos of husband and wife and statements that our marriage is legal. When asked about this, the registrar said that such a document cannot be issued and that I needed to go to Anna nagar registrar office. When checking with that office I was denied of a marriage certificate.
When passed this information to the Davidson street Registrar, she gave a different reason: as our date of marriage is more than 3 months prior to registration, the certificate cannot be issued.
Does that mean our marriage is not legal? I certainly need this. As this document will be the only (legal) proof of marriage.
            Regards,
            Vinith

The reply may be late, but I am answering to help those who still have this problem .My husband and I got married in Dec 2009. As per the Tamilnadu law we had to register within 3 months but due to many reasons we registered our marriage shortly before our 5th wedding anniversary. We received a 6 page true extract of marriage certificate and my husband used that for addition of spouse's name in his passport in hyderabad. The true extract is therefore valid proof of marriage.

I got married two years ago now if i want to apply for marriage certificate, its so difficult because of such old rules. They ask for residence proof in mumbai for getting the certificate, staying in Mumbai on rent, the only documents which I have is a rental agreement and vodafone bills. but as per them they are not acceptable.
We do have our passports from our native place though. Electricity bill come in the name of the owner so that wont work either.
Considering so much migration between the cities in India, should these rules not be revised?
Passport is a good proof and then the wedding card and rent agreement together make a valid set of documents for your genuineness.
                Kindly help me if possible.
                Thanks, K.
