We had sent 2 bags from Birmingham, UK to Nagpur, India and the baggage was stuck at Mumbai customs due to a human error. I needed the bags urgently as I wanted to move to another city in just a few days time. All the paper work was in place, as if it wasn't, the baggage wouldn't have been sent from the UK itself. Horrendous service by Mumbai India customs. Our baggage locks were broken and missing, one of the bag handles have come loose and some of the items inside the bag were damaged. I was asked to do all the paper work again and send it to DHL India for verification, was even asked to notarize my whole passport within a day with the time limit of 24 hours for it to reach the DHL office or we'll be charged an amount for our baggage to be kept at their storehouse with each day causing extra money. I never understood the concept of notarizing the whole passport including blank pages and sending it to them
There was not a single item inside our bags that was objectionable but still the bags were kept for a week for no reason and we were asked to pay Rs 2800 as a Duty/Tax for I don't know what reason and we were threatened that the baggage won't reach us if this amount wasn't paid and would be destroyed. The DHL courier service along with the Customs are looting people and this should stop. We send our baggage from one country to another to save efforts of carrying it ourselves and this commotion is not worth it.

I sent a fossil megalodon tooth to my son in India as a gift.

Indian Customs at Mumbai Foreign Post Office has sent the recipient a notice that they are holding the package until I submit a NOC from CITES.

A fossil of a megalodon tooth is not in the scope of CITES.

The seller of the fossil says they've sent many megalodon teeth to recipients in India before without any problems.

I have sent my invoice and proof of payment to the customs office in India, but they have only responded asking for the NOC. They don't answer their phone. No one is able to go to the office in-person because the gift recipient lives in Hyderabad. Terrible customer service, thieves and crooks.

I had submitted all the required information asked by the guys at the customs office. I had to wait for a month to get any information by the way. I live in mira road so I had to travel 3 hours back and forth, just to get this one piece of information. I still haven't gotten any updates, for the past month or so. It's completely infuriating how the customs office has handled my situation and I would like my product to be shipped by the soonest

Customs Duty charged incorrectly more than the cost o[censored]sed laptop

I have sent a laptop which is 7 years old and the cost in Australia is 100$ for that laptop. I have mentioned the same in my courier value and still in India the customs has charged 6000/- Rs for this item.

I have sent to my cousin's kid as they are doing home schooling for long time and instead of tab or mobile laptop would be better option.

I want to understand how do the customs work on used goods.

I sent my package from Dubai to India on[protected] and we are today sitting at[protected] !!
As per the cargo company my package is hold by Mumbai customs, attach screenshot of company website for your reference. There was no any suspicious object in cargo, It was just contains daily uses stuff. clothes, shoes ETC.

I sent a package from Florida to Mumbai on June 3rd through USPS and it reached India after three weeks and now the package is held in Mumbai Customs SAL since 22nd June. The tracking website [iship] doesn't show any reason on why its held. Please share the reason of the issue so that i can sort out. below are the tracking information.

I have ordered skincare products worth 39£ from cult beauty, uk website on june 4th I have recieved the package on june 23 2021 via Indian Postal Service after passing through Indian customs foreign exchange, Mumbai with the tracking number EH[protected] NL. When I recieved the package the package felt it was empty as it was light weight. I doubted it and as soon as I noticed it was empty I registered complaint writing a complaint letter to customs officer mumbai via indian postal office Jntu, kphb branch hyderabd. the consignment number of the complaint is RN[protected]IN . The customs sent me empty box and even asked me to pay the customs charges. But the as teh box seemed empty I registered the complaint as soon as possible. They sent me box taking away the products from it without information. I need answers. I paid amount for products that I bought. I need them back. I am ready to pay custom charges as required. I just need my products back please. The package contained 6 products as follows 1- Aha30%bha2% peeling solution, 1-lactic acid 10%+Ha, 1- retinol 0.5% in squalene, 1- Multi peptide serum for hair density, 1- supersize niacinamide 10%+zinc 1% and 1- inkeylist hyluronic acid serum. Kindly look into this, I sincerely request you all to address this issue and solve it. I would be forever grateful thanking you in advance

Cargo sent from Sharjah to Kerala during first week of August 2020. According to the shipping company the cargo is held at Mumbai Customs for clearance. It has been more than 8 months and there is no clue of expected delivery date. Kindly guide as how to get it resolved and get the cargo soon

The parcel in question with reference no. LG[protected]GB, was sent from UK by my sister Vania Coutinho on the 8th of october 2020.
I have not yet received the parcel and tracking records show that it is at the Mumbai EMS centre for Customs.
I have not received any intimation from Customs about the extreme delay, neither has there been any response to my numerous attempts at contacting the respective authorities either through the helpline number or through email.
Kindly help me out with a solution as to how I can procure the parcel.

Annually i send birthday gift parcel for my daughter from uae through emirates post, it was on transit for 15days and today 15th sept i received call for the collection of parcel @my nearest post office (Goa, 403110) against which the post master told to pay inr 7211, towards customs charges (Attached) i paid the amount bcos on 17th sept its her birthday, i presume its wrongly assessed

The contents of the parcel was shoes, clothes, chocolates, dry fruits and food items only.

I humbly request to refund the said amount since the cost the valuables is way less.

I had ordered a package, from Walmart (US), on the 4th of July 2020, which was then delivered to my friend's place on the 11th of July 2020 and he couriered it to me using USPS on the 17th of July 2020. (USPS)

The parcel reached Mumbai customs on 3rd of August 2020 and has since been there.

I have tried calling time and time again on the numbers provided on the official website but no one seems to be picking up. There has been no contact from their end as well.

I have emailed the official email ID provide and still no response.

What am I supposed to do? It is very important that I receive it on time and it has already been delayed with no update on the package clearing customs.

What other way can I possibly use to reach out to them.. why is Mumbai customs taking so long?
Why are the not picking up the phone to answer to people?
Why is there no systematic procedure to get things done?

All I needed was a parcel to be delivered on n time.

When will my parcel be delivered???

I send some gifts from cyprus to my relatives in india. I send clothes for a new born baby and some sweets plus pictures printed in canvas. Value of the parcel was written as 100euros. I paid 47.00euros to be deliver in max 5days. It took 12 days from the moment parcel arrive to bombay to be received at my family. They had to pay 5000rps to receive the parcel - aprox 65euros. This is unacceptable - i send gifts and receiver have to pay for it?? They did not receive the parcel because they have not sufficient money in their hand on the moment of parcel arrival.

Hello, my items stuck in mumbai customs, for no reason, its been days. I tried contacting them a lot of times, through emails, calls, no one answered. I wonder if i need to pay some custom duty, if that's the case, no one has still contacted me for it, or even told me whenever i have asked on mails. Please release my item, its a music album. I have been waiting for it since days, it has already exceeded the estimated delivery time.

My dad who lives in japan has sent me electric guitar through speed post as a gift to me. The unit was held at mumbai customs for 3 days, i had called them for the reason, they told me that send us an email saying it a gift from dad and including consignment number and aadhaar copy for identity proof, the adviser didn't tell me anything about custom duty fee. Today i received a call from local post office in pune (Delivery location) saying...

My name is bharat khanna.

A friend of mine staying in uk has shipped me some protein powder packets for my personal use.

The shipment has been sent via tnt courier with consignment number:[protected].

After reaching mumbai, the customs asked for valid documents to clear shipment.

I have submitted my aadhar card and pan card, along with invoice of the products as shared by my friend.

However, the customs officer keeps demanding

1) a purchase order
2) a remittance proof
3) a price list to show proof

In my defence i have already stated to tnt, that

1) a purchase order is not valid in my case, as the goods are a gift from my friend and he has purchased it locally. It is not for reselling or business purpose that it requires proof of purchase order.

2) the remittance proof is the invoice submitted by me, which clearly states at the bottom that the amount has been paid entirely in cash at the time of purchase itself in uk.

3) how can i have a price list when the goods are a gift from someone? The goods are in my personal name and there is no price list for it. This is not a business transaction.

Moreover the entire value of the goods is just 7.5 gbp which is around inr 750. It is not worth lakhs and crores that i am being harassed so much.

The customs are making a fuss and troubling me and harassing me since 2 weeks.

Please help me in this regard.

This parcel coming form canada sent by a friend is stuck mumbai customs with tracking no. Ee[protected]ca.

They have asked for payment reciept. Etc i provided all documents they needed.

They are not lifting phone calls or responding to emails.

This purely represents how responsible these people are really.

I don't know what they want.

If you have any problem at all with package or whatever you need, you need to contact the addressee and get it cleared. It's your responsibility.

This is totally unacceptable. This clearly shows, these people are incapable of doing their jobs.

We are paying lots of taxes and all of our money is employing these people and they have no respect for public and passion towards their job. Everybody knows that but we can't do anything about it.

I sent a small parcel from the uk to my daughter-in-law yangreila vashum on 6th december, and it has been held at mumbai customs since 13th december for ‘unspecified reason’. The parcel contained a small toy (Value about £10) and a scarf (Value about £15) plus a christmas card. I don’t understand why it is being held.
The reference number is lb[protected]gb.
I would appreciate it if you could arrange to have the parcel released, or the presents are not going to arrive in time for christmas.

Parcel with kids stuff and tomato seeds is stuck for unspecified reason at mumbai. It cleared delhi and now stuck at mumbai for more than 5 days.

They have apparently retained it for "unspecified" reason.
They are not picking up calls ane not giving any answer where is it and why is it retained.

Whom should i contact? Because this is stupidity to retain a parcel of kid candies and tomato seeds.

I have ordered a scarf from amazon us as personal gift. I have ordered that scarf on my office address. I have presented the letter which has my work location as mentioned in shipment. Yet the company needs rubber stamp on this paper. I have generated this letter online and my company cannot provide me any other letter apart from this. I can attach my company's id too if reuired but i am not getting help. Please let me know alternate possible solutions

There are no updates on this package after october 7th.
The customs phone numbers on the web have been of no use as they state they don't have any details or they cast assist.

My friend ordered baby carrier for me from the us & was sent by usps (Usps tracking # cj[protected]us). The cost of the item is $150 usd and this was paid in full. I have been charged rs. 5300 inr as customs duty to the post office when i collected the item

I want to know why these charges?

With reference to the above, i have sent a parcel to my mother in law on 15/8/2017. Waybill no : ee[protected]ae - this parcel has been detained with no reason. I would like to know why the parcel is detained?. I had sent this on an urgent basis and now its more then 5 days as promised by
The courier company and when i checked online it shows that the parcel is detained.

I have included the bill for the item and also declared on the waybill about the contents of the parcel. The original bill was also attached to the parcel.
I have been waiting for customs to update me and its been almost a month now and there is no sign of any updates. This is not the first time i had this bad experience. The most irritating part is that we can get never get in touch with any customs personnel via phone as nobody answers.

As per custom rules, the parcel should not be worth more then 20, 000 rupees and this is less then 2, 000 rupees.

I need the parcel to be delivered as soon as possible as its for my mother and she has some foot problem and need to soak them in hot water.

Kindly let me know the status of this parcel.

I have ordered my protein from uk and the thing is i have been charged custom fees on wrong value of product, my product is valued at rs.6043 but the custom (41.492%) is charged on rs.7403 i. E rs.3073.
I have been fraud by custom and need quick action and refund for the same.

I had ordered a package from myprotein where in after the custom inspection at mumbai one of my package is missing which is the vitamin tablet and that was very much important for me.

I had payed all the custom fees and the bought the my parcel.
