Mumbai Customs Complaints & Reviews

I placed two orders on Etsy. One was shipped on April 7th and the other one was shipped on April 29th. However neither of these have reached me yet nor am I able to track where they are.

Mumbai customs/foreign post office - can you please help me locate these two parcels? Are they currently with customs office? It has been close to 2 months already since they were shipped. Please can you confirm their status:

I am expecting a package from malaysia via TNT tracking no.[protected]. The contents of the package are plastic toys which DO NOT work on batteries in anyway. They are non- battery operated toys. The customs is asking for a NOC from the ADC (Drug Controller). As per the guidelines of the cosmetics and drug act and rules there under, only drugs, cosmetics are covered by ADC and require a NOC for import. These are just plastic toys, why do they require such an NOC? This is simple harrassing on part of the customs dept. Pls help.

I'm trying to call on the no. Since 6 days but nobody is bothring to pick the call. I've sent mail to given email but no reply.
This is 3rd time I'm sending the mail.

Hi, I have been sent a birthday gift by a friend from UK. My birthday was on August 8 and the gift has been held at the customs since August 9 and its still not cleared. I have emailed them the receipts and they say i have to pay some duty but they have not told me how much is that amount. I must have called the landline number for APSO atleast[protected] times since August. It either keeps ringing or there is an automated response saying that due to bad connection we cannot call this number. Luckily they receied my call 4-5 times. A person said that the parcel will be cleared but he got transferred, The new guys asked me to send the invoices which i did. however i have not heard anything ever since. I am sick of calling them everyday and the call is never received nor there is any action taken. I really want my birthday gift. Is there anything that can be done? The phone doesnt connect and if luckily i speak with them, i am advised to call again. The system is terrible and i really want my parcel. They have advised me to go to Mumbai but i am from Pune and i cant go to Mumbai just to receive the courier as it should be sent to my address. Please help. I am really concerned and disappointed.

i sent a parcel from UK to Goa, my parcel number is BY2502. OR EE[protected]GB , NOW MY PARCEL IS BEING HELD because they want proof of purchase and other documents, now my problem is that the items that i sent are gifts to a friend containing 3 very old mobile phones and 1 old laptop that i used to use.. now my problem is that i don't have the receipts for these items as they are very old. the mobile phones i don't purchase because they are free to me when i sign a new phone contract and also the laptop is so old and with many problems that i also don't have any receipts or even the box that it came in.. please help me . I've spoken to customs many times and all they say is i need to send the documents?? even when i say i don't have any and also the language barrier was an issue .. please tell me what i need to do to release the package??

I have been ordering personal items such as cloths,bags,shoes etc from an international free delivery website(asos). It states custom duties might be levied on any single order above 10,000 INR.

I have been charged duties for as low as 15£ (1245inr) and also my orders are over valued even though the price and invoice mentions the original value of the order on the parcel.
Eg: I ordered a dress for 21£ and it was grossly over valued at 2287 with 14.71 duty, amounting to 367rs. Even if the pound rate was 100rs ( which it is not) the value could not have been over 2100rs. I paid 1743rs for that dress and also have all the proof required like bank statement etc proving it.

Today 5 of my parcels arrived all with custom duties on it, even for a tshirt for 12.50£ (1040 rs.) has some random 300 duty on it and of course it has been over valued. (they all are separate orders and most below 20£)

I have been paying up but realised this is not fair! Why should I pay when they randomly assume the price of the parcel even though it's mentioned on it?

I called mumbai customs, no one answered on the odd 5 different numbers provided.
I called the chief commissioner of Mumbai customs office and of course he said check the website And it's not his concern department ( he is too important to take calls from mere citizens like me)

What am I suppose to do? Who is answerable for such things? And why are they deciding the value of the goods on their own when it's mentioned on the parcel? Like hello it's a very credible website!

Please help me to ate at find out the correct person to approach' as I returned the 5 parcels!

I have sent gifts to my family on 23/07/2011 through EMS from japan.This was stopped at mumbai customs in next week. I have not received any call or letter from the Mumbai customs about my luggage and reason to stop the luggage. I have waited 2 months that they will send letter or they will ask me to submit any required documents. Nothing I have received from mumbai customs. My family in India tried to give complaint in EMS office however they said nothing will be done with complaint from INDIA. SO I have given complaint in Japan. Japan EMS has given me answer that Mumbai customs expecting a call from my family. I have taken mumbai customs phone number and ny luggage reference number from Japan EMS. I have tried so many times to speak in telephone but no one from mumbai customs answered my call. It kept ringing but no one picked the phone. Now I am in confuse what to do because JAPAN EMS said they have nothing do with it, Its mubai customs has do it.I have no option to contact with customs.

Can you please help me out to get my luggage from customs.

there i ordered a few shoes from china....and I made the order on May 18th 2011...It reached the Mumbai Customs on the 27th of May 2011....

My tracking no. for EMS is EE[protected]CN

The gave me the customs detention no. 7950...however the mumbai customs do not answer their phone...on[protected]

They are gifts for my family and the government officials .....just cant bear them...

Hi, I was carrying a 46" LED TV from USA to India and at the Mumbai Customs they told me that I have to pay duty based on the TVs value showing up in their list and ended up paying INR 20,000. My understanding was that they are supposed to calculate the duty of the item based on the original purchase bill. I have produced the orignal bill ($1040 value) and still they didn't consider it.

Can some one help me understand what is the actual procedure because few customs staff told me that I have been over charged on the duty by not considering the original bill for evaluating the duty. I am really confused as to what is correct procedure.

Also, I am planning to submit a complaint to Commissioner of Mumbai Customs....Pls advice.

Hi,

I have sent a parcel to a friend in Hyderabad from Sydney, Australia on the 1st of February 2010. To make sure that the parcel reaches in time, I opted for Express Delivery and paid a premium for the service.

In Australia Post, they have an online tracking system where you can track your shipment online. I have been doing that regularly.

Since the 5/2/2010, it is showing that the item is at Mumbai Customs, awaiting delivery clearance. The commercial value of the parcel is nil and I have signed all the paperwork needed for it.

I tried calling the local call centre in Sydney but they gave me the same response that Mumbai Customs are waiting for clearance. I don’t know why there is so much of a delay with this as it was suppose to reach in 4-5 working days.

Can some one please have a look at it.
