[Resolved]  ABN AMRO Bank / Credit Card — MY NAME SENT FOR DEFAULTERS IN RBI

1. Please note that In February 2006 I wrote to ABN amro to close my credit card account because I had got a job in Mussoorie and ABN did neither had a branch in Mussoorie nor in Dehradun (capital city nearby). Please see Email 1 appended below.

2. After having sent several mails (Reminders appended below Email 1), they finally replied me saying that I should call their Delhi customer care number which was not practically possible, because I can not hold on infinitely on an STD line. Then they called me on my new number and tried to convince me to stick to their card and I clearly explained them that it was not possible for me as they do not have branch in the city I am working now. Reply from ABN is pasted just below reminder I sent to them.

3. Then I got my statement in which they charged me with a late fee for Rs. 500/- and also charges for some CREDIT SHIELD which I had never applied for. I was not responsible for the delay in making payment but its ABN that have made all the delays. I requested customer care to reverse this late fee. Email 2 appended and reminders too.

4. Now I take leave from my office and come to Delhi to settle this issue and after various discussion I was asked to make a payment of Rs. 7720/-. Email Receipt of that payment is pasted as Email 3,

5. And after settling the whole issue I receive a statement next month according to which I still owe Rs. 5000/- to ABN. I again wrote to customer care and Email 4 for which is pasted below.

6. I even wrote to Consumer Forum regarding this whole issue and harassment I had gone through all this time Email 5 pasted for your information. Also pasted is reply from customer care.

7. Email 6 of September 2006 is self explanatory and shows my frustration clearly that despite following up so much I never got a proper assistance from your customer care. I did not received the NO DUE CERTIFICATE and then I gave up sending reminders. And these are not full mails. I had sent hundreds of reminders other than these and I can send them as well for your reference if you want to.

8. There was a complete silence of 2 years in between. No communication from the bank at all.

9. Now finally when I came back to Delhi I thought of contacting you once again and sent you my final mail pasted at the last.

10. The most shocking of all is that on Friday, November 14, 2008, I got a call from RBI ConsumerEX division called me and said that ABN has sent my name for DEFAULTER’S LIST. I just don’t know how to deal with this now. I need your assistance please.

Thanks,
Sareena

I made some more payments to avoid late fee charges etc., email receipt of which is pasted below. But despite of taking all precautions I was charged with late fees.

EMAIL LAST MONTH

I have been writing to you for last 3 years to settle my account. Every time its me who is concerned about NO DUE CERTIFICATE and I never receive a response from customer care. Now also I contacted you (3 weeks back) regarding the same and today I am informed that I have to pay rs. 14000/-. And this is just because the old customer care executive who dealt with me 3 years ago has bot sent my file for clearance to RBI. I have already made the full and final payment as advised by that old chap 3 years ago and therefore, now I request you to please issue me a NO DUE CERTIFICATE. I am pasting below extract of my conversation with your customer care executives for your reference. If you need I can forward all the other emails for our reference which can help you in settling my account and issue NO DUE CERTIFICATE to me.
I M NOW BACK IN DELHI AND WANTED TO USE ABN CREDIT CARD AGAIN BUT THIS WAY I THINK I WONT THINK OF IT AGAIN AND WILL SUGGEST OTHER FRIENDS AS WELL NOT TO GO FOR IT.

This is to state that I have taken a loan on your bank and repaying in proper way, my loan a/c no.9496061
In connection with this a/c your executives spoked me that as if your loan track is in good manner, we are offering a scheme namely SUPREME PLUS OFFER, which gives me a card as DINING PLUS where i get discount upto 35% he said, his name was SARAVANAN.This gentleman also says that i may get 35% less even on gold purchases, textiles etc., I was totally admired on those words and agreed to sign.HE asked me to punch the credit card (STANDARD CHARTERED BANKwhich i using )no and expiry date and three digit nos on the backside of the card, as the phone connected to the IVR SYSTEM.i did the same, after few seconds he said the transactions got through and you get your card in 10 days. After three days the same fellow phoned me and said that the transaction done on that being declined, so do for the second time, as i belived them i did the same.after a week time, i recevied two cards in my name and an amount of rs.10000/

debited in my SCB CARD.I was totally upset on this regard, and came to know that i was cheated by your peoples on attractive words.i was speaking to the customer care ten times but no one is responding for this matter.I DONT HAVE BANK A/C, CREDIT CARD OF YOUR ABN AMRO BANK.I feel shame to say your executives made me a fool on this mater.kindly look in to it and refund the amount of rs.10000/
to my SCB CARD a/c as i have surrendered both the cards to ABN AMRO BANK IN HARRINGTON ROAD, CHETPET, CHENNAI.I MAY GO FOR LEGAL ACTION, IF NOT SOLVED THIS PROBLEM WITH IN 10DAYS.
Since I have repaid the entire amount against credit card nos:
1. [protected]
2. [protected]
3. [protected]
I request u to cancel the above mentioned cards and inform me accordingly at the earliest.
Dear sir

as per your statement, my outstanding debt is rs 5317 but as per a message sent to me, you have charged a total amount of above Rs 10, 000. I am unable to understand the reason behind this extra charge and request you to send me a proper new statement at the earliest.
I had also complained to your customer care and my ref number is [protected]
You have again raise some fabricated entries to my a/c as per latest statement dated 05.06.09. Rs. 2500.00, Rs. 650.00, Rs. 253.45 and Rs.350.55 respectively as Upgrade fee debit, late fee, finance charges - Retail and service tax. Total outstandings shows as Rs. 10076.89. I want to confirm that there is no outstanding as per my records. Please reverse all unauthorised entries from my a/c and send me corrected statement

I hope I do not have any outstanding. Please send me a Zero due payment bill in the next cycle date.
As per your statement dated 14.04.09 you have charged Rs. 75.00 on 11.4.09 and Rs.7.72 on 14.04.09 as Yess Fee and service tax respectively. These are exorbitant fees, please reverse the charges.

As per statement dated 14.05.09 you have charged Rs. 423.90 on 09.05.09, Rs. 2000.00, Rs. 151.92, Rs. 239.06 & Rs. 405.79 on 14.05.09 being late fee, membership fee, finance charges and service tax respectively.which are not logical. Please reverse these charges.

As per statement dated 14.06.09 you have charged Rs. 2000.00 on 14.06.09 and Rs. 192.96, Rs. 406.29 and Rs. 267.71 as membership fees, finance charges and service taxes respectively. All the charges are exorbitant. Please reverse these charges immediately.

As per statement dated 14.07.09 you have charged Rs. 650.00 on 05.07.09, Rs. 119.96, Rs. 3.97 and Rs. 126.30 as late fee, finance charges and service tax. All the charges are wrong. Please reverse these charges.

i do not know what surprises are waiting for me in the statement dated 14.08.09.

Please reverse all these charges immediately as I have no actual outstanding. The outstanding appearing in my statement are all the charges you have merely debited to my card a/c.

You services during the last few months have dipped a lot and it needs to be addressed immediately so that the customers do not suffer at your wishes and mercy.

Please respond immediately. I am thinking of discontinuing using your card in the near future.
