[Resolved]  Airtel — Harassment and threatening

Dear Sir/Madam,

I , Arya A, working as a senior scientist at Biocon for past 5 years. I had taken the corporate connection from airtel and the number is [protected]. I am using this connection for past 1 and half years and the bill is getting reimbursed by the company. The bill payment details are getting posted to my official mail ID i.e., arya.[protected]@biocon.com. Since I was in a medical maternity leave for past 3 months, I couldn’t pay my bill for past 3 months and the bill due amount was 4630. The connection was disconnected for past 1 month. I came back to Bangalore 5 days back and I didn’t get the chance to pay the bill.
I’m writing this letter to inform you a very bad experience which I had to face from a business executive from airtel today morning.
He called me and told that he is calling from a courier service and he need to dispatch a courier in my hand. I have directed him to my PG address and when I met him out side the PG he told me that he is from airtel and this is regarding the bill payment. He introduced himself as Dhanush and he had called me from the number [protected]. We were talking on the road side in front of my PG .Since I didn’t have that much amount in my hand I told him that I will pay the bill in very next working day. He was not willing to listen to me and started raising his voice and started threatening me. He started using foul language. People started noticing us and felt much insult which is hard to explain.
Then he called somebody through phone and made me talk to that person. He told that he is the legal consultant from airtel and I explained him my situation and told that I’m willing to pay the bill ASAP. He told to hand over the phone to the executive and they continued their conversation. After that he forced to get my blank cheque to him. Since I shifted two days back to my PG I didn't carry my cheque book with me. He started making a scene in front of my PG. He told me that he will come inside my PG and insult me in front of my PG owner and will insult me in front of everybody. He threatened me to get on his bike and to go to Banargatta office of Airtel even though there is an office in Koramangala
Since I’m 4 months pregnant and I didn’t want to go through that embarrassment, I told him that I will pay the bill today itsel[censored]sing my credit card. He was waiting near the gate till I got ready. I started getting scared and I called my roommate to come along with me to the airtel office. He forced me to take a auto-rickshaw and follow him. Even though I was advised not to travel by auto as I have a complicated pregnancy and have high chances of miss carriage, to get escaped from him, I had to take an auto. The executive was following our rickshaw and one more guy joined him and all the way they were staring me and my room mate. We were very scared by the time we reached Koramangala airtel office. By the time I returned to my PG, I had a high BP and started vomiting. I was not able to face others due to the insult feeling caused by executive.
Since I had taken the corporate connection they could have contacted me at office rather than harassing me at my living place. I had not delayed my bill payment ever before and this was due to a solid reason. If I’m not paying the bill after the bill due date they could have taken a legal action rather than sending Gundas to threaten the customers. If I had to face any medical issues due to this incident the loss was only for my family. 4630 was not a big amount for me but due to my circumstances I delayed my payment. But nobody has any right to threaten a lady who stays all alone like this. I hope that this kind of situation shouldn’t repeat to any other person.
Kindly take necessary action on this issue.

Airtel — Harassing/ forcing the customer too much

I am an Airtel customer for the past many years. during the recent years, I had changed my local address many times. today by about 3.45 I got a call, claiming to be from AirTel. she asked me what is my address, saying that that was for address verification. I said, years before i took the connection. the precise address i had given then is not known to me. Presently you can take my address as G-5. Ramanujan Computing Center Anna University.. Even before i could finish it, she said, "wrong address, mismatch with what is given and what you are saying, You are to give a fresh address proof". I asked what address is written there in my form?. she said, nothing can be divulged to the customer? I asked, if do not furnish fresh address proof, what will happen? For which even before she had answered, failing which, your connection will be cut. I said, I can not and need not do that. do as you like. Evey now and then, go there, do that, i can't do. I asked whether i can talk to any body above you? she connected me to a team leader? He said, he was Charles. ... i said, my name, and details, like different addresses and so how can you say wrong address? how can you say, once again address proof?... then he began to say, it is that rule, (DOT... ? ) that i should do so, ie go to teh nearest AirTel Show Room and furnish address proof and one pasport size photo. I asked what if i do not? in how many days, are you going to cut my conneciton? he says, he can not say that! then i said, i will not go to nearest..... if they come i can give them. he was asking me how do they know my address? i said, whichever address is there in my original form, to that address they can come or send a copy of the new rule. I asked how can i know who is calling me? cheating or not?.... i also said, when it comes to giving away a SIM card, in evey petty shop, it will be available. when it comes to our submitting anything we should go to nearest Show Room. I saidm if there is as how room like that in 200mts of my place, i will do. else will not. your duty is to send an information to the address specified there in the application. if the customer is not responding, let him lose the conneciton. I said, i am not going tto a Show room to submit records, rather, if they want a customer, let soemoen come collectiong these from me. ot him also i asked, if i do not submit what willhappen and in how many days? he says, he can not sayt that? how can i belive him then? I told him to send a copy of the ruls, to RCC Anna University, iuf they want a customer. Else i will go get another connection with the same effort. he was asking me to call 198.... some customer care or .... But my experice with all these numbers i told him "electronic reply, the purpose of mine will never be addressed in the options, and will be spending half an hour there. no humans will talk to us or solve our problem".
in between he was saying the address i said, is right. nothing wrong with it. then why should he get one more copy of the application? the why should the first girl say wrong address! this or that way you want to force the customer do all for you?
so i decided to go for a new connection if AirTel can not convince me of the rule and collect the details from me than i go in search of them.

this type of forcing one to their network can not be tolerated
This is insane. The lady had to go through so much trauma by taking Airtel connection. I see Airtel service agents responding about the issue being fixed. Was it required for Airtel collection agents to act in such irresponsible manner. Will Airtel now reimburse the lady for the trauma? Inconvenience regretted statement from Airtel service agents is very convenient. Being an Airtel customer I am ver disappointed with such practices of Airtel..
