I DID MY BACHELORS DEGREE FROM ALAGAPPA UNIVERSITY, TAMILNADU THROUGH DISTANCE . I CAME TO KNOW THAT THE INDIAN UNIVERSITIES WHICH OFFER DISTANCE EDUCATION PROGRAMS SHOULD TAKE PERMISSION FROM " DISTANCE EDUCATION COUNCIL(DEC), NEW DELHI " BEFORE STATING THEIR COURSES, WITHOUT WHICH DEGREE'S OFFERED BY SUCH UNIVERSITIES ARE NOT VALID . HENCE UNIVERSITIES IN INDIA HAS TO TAKE PERMISSION FROM DEC AND IT IS MANDATORY FOR UNIVERSITIES IN INDIA GIVING DISTANCE EDUCATION COURSES . PLEASE CHECK ( WEBSITE : www.dec.ac.in ) for more information . ALAGAPPA UNIVERSITY, TAMIL NADU IS ONE SUCH UNIVERSITY THAT DOES NOT HAVE DEC GRANT TO GIVE DISTANCE COURSES.SO PARENTS AND STUDENTS BEWARE OF THIS FAKE UNIVERSITY COURSES. The Attitude of the Distance Education Council is not clear. In the DEC's Official web site I am trying to checkout the list o[censored]niversities provisionally approved for distance education, this link is under construction. I am trying this link since from nov-2008 since from more than three months the link is under construction.
also one more link was there which was showing the universities and their approved cource list is also removed.

Check at " http://www.dec.ac.in/provisional_recognition.htm " .
Alagappa University, DDE does not figure in the list of recognised University.
Alagappa University, DDE programmes are not Recognised by DEC, UGC and AICTE joint Committee.
They seem to have applied for recognition from DEC, but still they haven't yet got the approval.
It has to be Recognised by DEC, UGC and AICTE joint Committee and not DEC alone.

Alagappa University is fooling students and more-over it is not issuing Degree Certificates .So students keep away from this University, don't waste time and money.
If Degree Certificates are not given whats the use of Approval from various boards.

I kindly request UGC, DEC to take strong action against Alagappa University, Distance Education for not providing students with their Degree Certificates.
The Controller of Examination is useless and VC knows nothing and Director of Distance Education has cleaned his hands in all matters relating to issue of Degree Certificates directing students to Controller of Examination that means Director DDE is more bothered about making money .
