Rickshaw — Unsensored meter bill

Myself Odhavji From Jarimari have been traveled bye the autorickshaw on 6th May 2008 from bandra terminus to Jarimari sakinaka, i am a routine traveler of this route and the autorickshaw driver had taken 90 rupees instead of 40rs.
i am having the detail of the that cab and he was very obnoxious
however i want to take strict action against that rickshaw driver

I have found two rickshaws near to MOVITIME and INORBIT mall - Mindspace - malad west area which have tampered meter. And they are charging to customer 6 rs/- extra from actual cost. This is not fair. Now a days such rickshaws are freely running road and traffic police is not doing any thing.

mumbai auto rickshaws — Fare Meters Fast

90% of the auti rickshaws in Mumbai have the meters fast. For every Rs 30 that appears in the meter as much as Rs 5-6 is manipulated.
I sincerely request RTO to keep a check on this and penalise Autowallas who tamper their meters.

Rickshaw in mumbai — Tampered Rickshaw meter

On 27th July, while travelling from Andheri (E) to Chembur, the meter of the rickshaw no. MH-02 Z 2493 was tampered. The normal fare regulalry comes between 70 to 75 rupees. However, on 27th the meter read a fare of rupees 100. I tried to argue with the driver and would have only paid him the appropriate fare, but unfortunately didnt have the change.

I would request you to please adhere to this complain and take the necessary action.

Auto Rickshaw overcharging — Over charging/ meter fast

I hired an auto rickshaw on 24th October 2009 at 6.15 pm from Hingwala Lane, Ghatkopar, Mumbai - 77 to Kurla Terminus Pipeline road near jain derasar. the usual fare as per reading is Rs.15.00. the meter in this auto showed Rs.19.00 and the fare he demanded was Rs.20/-. On asking about the rise in fare he disagreed to it and demanded the full money. he charged me Rs.19.00 for the same then. The Re.1/- he reduced obviously means he was aware of the rigging of the meter. Please do the needful so as to stop him from looting innocent customer. the auto rickshaw no. was MH-03-Q-882.

Complaints should be made easy.
Weshould have complaint centers at various places.
I find almost all the auto rickshaws have fast meters.
Waiting is always fast.
The meters run faster if there is low tyre pressure of if the tyre is bald.
The authorities must look into this matter very seriously and stop corruption.

This is mahesh sawant, residing at Vikhroli Kannamwar nagar -2, Mumbai 400 083. This is to lodge a complaint and bring to your notice that the Auto-Rickshaws standing on Kanjur Marg Gandhi Nagar Link Road near Kannarmwar Nagar have Tampered meters through which they overcharge the commuters daily.
Auto-Rickshaw number MH-03 AA889 in particular has been charging high fare through tamoered meter.
Example: The fare for travelling from Kannamwar Nangar -Kanjur Bridge to Andheri Kondivita Lane is Rs.55 to 60/- on Sunday having no traffic . And his meter was Rs. 84/- for that same rute, It is more than the normal week days from Monday to Friday,

Auto Rickshaw no MH03 V 8622 charging very high fare and was very abusive while questioning him. Please take urgent action on him.

This is Prasun Kumar residing in Hiranandani Estate, Patlipada, Thane (W). I had to go from Boriwali Station to Patlipada tonight 26th April 2010at about 0330 hrs. The driver of auto rickshaw MH O2 Z 2324 convinced me that only way to go Patlipada is to go first Mulund CheckNaka and then from Mulund CheckNaka to Patlipada.
From Boriwali to Mulund CheckNaka the meter reading was 2360, for which he charged me Rs 416/- including night charge. It seems his meter was fast and also the card was fake.
You are requested to let me know whether he has charged me correctly, if not what action has been taken against him.

mh03 ak1214 runs 1.5 times faster; the guys was rude too; cots me 30rs for a normal 20-22rs ride

I live in pump house andheri east and we residents have a tough time finding an auto from staion to ply us back home, In the event we get one, their meters are tampered. On compaining to cops they send us from one place to another to lodge complaints. and increase our harrasment. How do we control this?.
Now that the auto fare has increased as per the autodrivers demands, we as commuters demand a fair policy fare to ensure we dont end up paying extra money each time we take a auto ride.

I daily travel through Auto from Powai - Kensignston TCS office - Mumbai to THakur Complex-Kandivali East. Always I have an issue with Auto person. THere have very fast meter and on discussing with them they start abusing, one of the auto person rikshaw number is MH03 R 2790. Request you to take strick action against it.
Normal fare from Thakur Complex to Powai-Kensingston is 115 Rs and ther charge you 145 to 140 Rs. This is really a big cheating auto people are doing. All the auto people stands outside TCS Office in Powai have wrong meters.

I travel from Borivali west to pathanwadi malad east and back everyday. I want to complain about the following autodivers who refused to commute between this distance :
- MH02A5305 - Borivali to Malad
- MH02Q9775 - Malad to Borivali
- MH02U5445 - Malad to Borivali
- MH02UA8541 - Borivali to Malad
- MH02SA8779 - Borivali to Malad

On telling that we will complaint, they nicely said go and complaint ..we will see who can do anything. They have just made a mockery of the whole complaint system.

Auto rickshaw number MH-03-R-5839 standing at Saibaba Temple, Jagdusha Nagar, Ghatkopar-west, Mumbai-400086 has tempered his Auto meter by 40%.
I travel from Ghatkopar to Goregaon & meter reads somewhere 10.5 to 11.0, but when I came with his auto, without any traffic, the meter read 14.5 & he charged me 180.00

on requesting him that he is charging unfair amount, he was extremely rude & told his meter reads, what I have to pay.

We should do something to have this auto rickshaw man some lesson.

I commute daily from Goregaon Dindoshi to Borivili(W) and back everyday. I want to complain about the Auto rickshaw no: MH 02 Z2104 has tempered his Auto meter. As well, he is a reckless driver. Irrespective of complaining that I have back issue and to slow down, paid no head.

They don't care about the complaint as they are aware, no one is bothered.And yes, they mock at the system.

i agree that a lot of them have tampered rickshaw meters. i am a victim too. can we have a list of rickshaw numbers having tampered meters, so that we can send one such list to the consumer court with all of our email ids and contact numbers. ideally we could start the scare by clicking the pic of the rickshaw number. once the awareness starts, it may help.

I am Avinash Chandra resident of Jogeshwari, western Express Highway.There is Yusuf College Bus stand in Jogeswari(E).Rikshawalas with tampered meter charging Extra.Today MH02TA2417 took Rs.40 instaed of Rs.30 from Yusuf college Bus stand to Durian Estate Goregaon(E).Even after arguing alot he is not bother about Complian, at all.
Please look in to this matter otherwise making comlain having no means.

Auto Rickshaw travel — Overcharging by auto due to tampered meter

I travelled by an auto today at 11:30 am from Juhu Koliwada to Gulmohur Road No 12 and the taxi fare came to Rs 24 (Rs 2 on the meter). I returned from Gulmohur road back to Juhu Koliwada by auto Number MH 02 UA 4173 at about 12:30 pm and for the same distance, the fare came to Rs 34 (ie Rs 2.80 on the meter). I complained to the rickshaw driver but he refused to accept the fact that his meter was tampered with. Hence I had to shell out Rs 34 as per the meter. It was quite apparent from the expression of the rickshaw driver that he had tampered with the meter but since I had no other recourse, I am lodging the complaint on this site with a request to the authotrities to take stern action against the concerned auto driver so that at least in future, the passengers are not cheated.

Hi,
I am a daily commuter from IC Colony, Borivali to Dindoshi and back. Every day the meter shows a reading of 67 to and fro and the driver charges me Rs. 95/- per trip. Past two months...I have been charged almost the same amount at times it fluctuate like 107 or so...Today I came by MH02VA1259. The meter showed a reading of 125 and he charged me Rs. 160/- and when I told him that this is way too much...and he should rather get his meter changed, he looked at me in a threatening manner. I was made to pay almost double the amount.
Request you to please take strict actions against such drivers. In my opninion their licenses' should be cancelled.

Same way, daily i am travelling from Goregaon to Malad (W), i pay 35 -37 Rs but today. autorikshaw's meter running very fast. it was showing 39 in meter and he took 49 rs from me. and there were not traffic on the way. Why should i pay extra for the same distance.
i didnt notice the auto rikshaw's no. pls provide me the contact no for complaintsso that immediate i can call and can give the info about that autowallas.

I was travelling from vile parle east dayal das road to vile parle west. Rhe rickshaw meter was tampered and showing wrong reading.There was no traffic on the was still the meter reading was showing 33 instead of 27 or so. It even shows 40 for some meters. This has been going since 2 months.He has charged me higher price. He has charged me 41 and there are instances when i have paid 50. Today i came by rickshaw whose number is mh-02-z 5954. Kindly assist us with these tampered meters.

Vehicle No. MH04-BC-4610. Was travelling from kashish Park to Teen haath naka. Normal charge is one meter. This meter was tamepered and I had pay 16 rupees. On top he was very arrogant. All such drivers should be sent behind jail. Mr. Transport Minister can u wake up and do something for all this crimes. It is very difficult to fight against all such Auto-Taxi Drivers (?)/criminals.

I am slightly busy so I didn't find to register complaint in police station but i thought to do something online here somewhere.

I fully agree with some of the above complaints that auto rickshaws drivers tempered the meter and charge high fare daily. As even I would like to complain as this auto rickshaw guy having no. MH 02 UA 169 had tempered his meter and when i told him that i will note down your rickshaw number and complaint against it, at that time he said "PLZ NOTE MY NUMBER PROPERLY"and dont make mistake. I took auto from Juhu, 10th Road till Kandivali, where the normal fare is 94 or 97 Rs but he charge me 120 Rs.As my office is at Juhu, i mostly travel in auto rickshaw but i am noticing that mostly each and every auto rickshaw drivers temper their meter and charge high fare. This is my 4th of 5th compalint, but there is no action. I request your authority to kindly take action against these auto rickshaw guys or else it really would be sad that we being educated but getting fooled by this drivers.

Please cancel License of METER WORK SHOP where they tamper meter. One I know is (New Anmol meter work Shop) in Tagore Nagar - 3 Vikhroli(East).

Most of the rickshaw meter get tempered here for Vikhroli-Adheri (E)

I am Amit Malde a resident of A-10, Mahavir Jyot, Opp. Odeon Shopping Centre, Vallabh Baug Lane, Ghatkopar (East), Mumbai. This is complain against the Auto Rickshaw Driver for tampering the meter and charging in excess. Auto Rickshaw no. is MH 03 R 500. I board on the Rickshaw from Nirmal Nagar, Near D-mart, Mulund (west) for journey to Rajawadi, Ghatkopar (east) at 10.57 pm on 5/1/11 (wednesday). On reaching the destination at 11.25 pm, when I ask the Rickshaw driver, he said Rs.157 and I was shocked, because I came by highway and that too at night when there was not much traffic on the road (it should have hardly cost me somewhere around Rs.80). So I told him this is not fair and tell me how much I should pay and after some arguement we decided to go to nearest police station and after reaching there charges were around Rs.180 according to his meter reading. And hence police officer asked me to pay him Rs.125 and solve the matter. When I told police office that his meter is tampered, he told me to go to Grahak Panchayat and get the issue resolved. It being so late in night, I paid Rs.125, but I want the Auto Rickshaw driver to be punished severely. As he was shameless and was not even scared when we went to Police station. I dont want anyone else to be cheated in the same way as he cheated me. So please look into the matter at the earliest.

i daily travel mulund east to mulund west rs.29 but he take rs.38.

please note that RTO people are not taking complains of high rates being charged by almost all the rikshas.meters of most of them are tempered with connivance of these RTO authorities, it seems so.
while travelling the same distance from last 15 years the reading on meters is coming 20 to 25% higher means the meters are not functioning prop[erly.

i rahul, traveled from mulund west to vikhroli east via sahyadri nagar in bhandup west.
Regularly meter shows reading like 64 or 68 but today as i traveled with auto no. MH 03 V 8665 and the meter showed reading 94;his meter was too fast. I request to authority to take some strik action against fast meters in auto rikshaw.

Hi, I reside at Chembur and work at Vikroli... On 25 March 2011 i took an auto from vikroli near (CCD) for chembur. I realised in the midway the meter was too fast however i kept quite as i wanted to reach my destination. Once i reached i asked him what's the fare. He told me 110 Rs whereas the normal fare comes to 70 Rs. I told him that his meter is fast and he started arguing on the same.. I gave him 80 Rs and step down from his auto. In return he abused me... I want to take strict action against him

If you want action to be taken against errant rickshaw drivers, send a written complaint to the RTO. No action will be taken for complaints made on this forum. It is important that after filing complaint with the RTO, we do a proper follow-up also otherwise nothing happens.

Everyday i travel to J.B.Nagar, Andheri East from Piramal Nagar, Goregaon via Sab Tv Lane Versova at around 08:00 am in the morning. The average fare i pay is Rs 110/- However, on 27/05/2011, autorickshaw having no. - MH02-VA-1021 charged me Rs 151/- with a meter reading of 11.7, which is 37% higher than usual. It confirms that he was having a faulty meter. Request you to look into the same

Auto Rickshaw — wrong meter readings which is almost double the actual fare

Auto rickshaw no. AP11 Y2773 is cheating customers by charging more fare charges through his wrong meter readings. PLS TAKE ACTION AGAINST HIM.

I reside in Raheja Vihar, Chandivali, Andheri East. Here, the regular auto rickshaw drivers have tampered the meters to an extent that a normal fare of 17 rs. (meter reading 1.50) to Hiranandani Central Avenue Powai usually comes out to be 21 rs. (meter reading 1.8). They also do not agree on the wrong and tampered meters on confrontation and create a scene to get the total money which is a total loot of the common people. Yesterday, I travelled to the same Hiranandani venue from Raheja Vihar in auto rickshaw no. MH-03 M 8484 and to my surprise observed that the meter read 1.20 already just at the exit of my premises. When I brought this to the driver's attention, he forcibly and angrily asked me to unboard the auto in the middle of the road and leave. They are getting boosted day by day for doing such wrong activities as no action is being taken by RTO or even the police. I kindly request the concerned authority to take proper and strict action against such auto rickshaw guys who have no other motive in life than to dupe common man. They should be taught a lesson soon to curb corruption and tampering of meters.

Hi, I am Harmita, me too facing the same problem, I have been travelling from santacruz east kalina to vikhroli west by auto, first the meter charge would come Rs 90, now after the strike and all happend auto walas have coorected their meter, then i was surprised that my fare is coming only Rs 65 . All these days thye have looted us . But still some auto walas have not corrected their meter, today i travelled by auto no MH - 4661, i told him thatur meter is running fast, he said ki wire nikal gaya isliye, and charged me 90, but still way margin, . What can be done to all this . Is there some serious action taken for all the complaints . Or is ther some site where we can complaint or got to some office and complaint . We all should stop this .

All the complaint made in the post are true. I daily travel from Dahisar CheckNaka to Marol and i find almost all rickshaw meter are tampered. After the RTO drive against Tampered Meter I found significant difference in meter reading. Earlier meter reading used to be 12.5 to 13.5 but now it is only 9.0. But still since few days i am finding that they have again tampered the meter and meter reading is same as before. RTO has increased the fare by 50 paise that has also fallen on commuters. Now they take high fare of tampered meter with additional increased fare.
RIckshaw wala in Mumbai have no fear from the system. They know the system that nobody will bother about this even a complaint is made against them...
I hope RTO Authorities will act again and will do something for commuters..

I do agree with the above complaints. I travel from goregaon west to andheri seepz area. Actual distance is approx 11 kms. If i get an auto with correct meter then it costs me around 77 Rs. But most of the time meters are tempered and i have to pay them 90+ and sometimes 100+ Rs.

The auto rickshaw having number MH 02 SA 650 is also one of them. This guys tells me "bade log jo lut te hai use to koi kuchh nahi kaheta." and this is the case everyday. Whatever rick number it may be the i have to pay Rs. 20-30 extra every day which really pinch my pocket.

Please take action for the faulty meters as we common man are suffering everyday.
