[Resolved]  Bharti Airtel 3G — Misleading information, bill overcharged

Address:South Delhi, Delhi

Dear Concerned,

I hope there is someone reading this mail who can understand a customer's state of mind being having to mail back and forth every second day to have this billed amount corrected for my cell number [protected].

I had a very shocking experience with Bharti Airtel recently, regarding their 3G plans on cell phones. I frankly feel like scammed and the whole process totally fraud.

I had activated the 3G services with a 750RS plan on 7th November 2011 and the billed amount till 22nd November 2011 was more than 5000.

On activation of services I had received an SMS which said "Rs 750,5GB Free,After 6.03315GB 100% Free" I had browsed and downloaded more than 7GB of data so it should be 100% free apart from 750Rs charges, but thats not the case. They have charged at much higher rate and the voice calls are charges separately.

I contacted back on 9th of December regarding the over billed amount and since then had written to Customer Care ([protected]@in.airtel.com), the nodal officer (Nodalofficer.[protected]@airtel.in,nodalofficer.[protected]@in.airtel.com) and finally the Appelatte (appellate.[protected]@in.airtel.com, appellate.[protected]@airtel.in) but none of these fine professionals were able to comprehend the real issue.

All the time I've been told that bill is correct and I have been asking how it could be correct if you yourself have told me that upto 5GB free and after 6.03GB 100% free.

First they have some internal self declared limit that the moment your data usage reaches Rs5000 or 5GB, the 3G services will be deactivated and you will be charged on 2G services at much higher rate automatically. By the way this has never been told to me at time of activation or at the time when the self imposed limit was over.

Second, you will not know when your limit will get over as I didn't get any intimation about the exhaustion of limited 5GB usage.

Even after approaching the Airtel Customer Service, Airtel Nodal officer and their superior the Airtel Appellate authority these guys are saying that charges are correct. No one bothered to explain why the SMS said 100% free after 6.03GB and how they have reached this billed figure. I 've been called on 17th December, this date is 4 days well after the payment due date.

Now they say that above SMS message meant that after 5GB they will count from zero till the count reaches 6.03GB and for the entire thing customer will be charged.

Meaning that the SMS received, "Rs 750,5GB Free,After 6.03315GB 100% Free" should be read like 5GB+6.03GB = 6.03GB and not 11.03GB. Thats what was meant as mentioned in the SMS and bill.
What a SCAM!!

l keep getting e-mails that we (Airtel) tried to reach you but you were unavailable though I got calls from all over the India on same cell phone, which could be easily checked since its Airtel's service I am using.

Wish there is somebody who could understand the gravity of the situation and reverse the unfair billed amount.

Looking forward to a prompt and positive reply.

Regards
S Thakur

Airtel — Faulty billing and misleading promises

I am a user of the broadband services of Airtel. Since last many months Airtel is sending me inflated bills which gets corrected only after extensive follow-up. So much so that i decided not to pay the bill anyomre and it ws only after assurances from its 'Noida Office' that paid my last bill after spefic asuureance regarding proper bill in the next cycle. But it was not to happen and i am again in the recipet of a over charged bill depicting some fictional balance payments. Enough is enough.
I hope that concerned authorities will take notice and intervene and relieve me of this agony.
My email ID is chakravarty.[protected]@gmail.com
Thanks.
dear concerned,

I would like to have direct answers for the following questions and hope that this will be my last e-mail to Airtel.

Kindly DO NOT ask your representative/s to call me anymore, I am sick and tired of these calls.
I would like to have these explanations in written. And if something doesn't make sense I will call up your customer service.

1. How many days of 3G service has been used by me on my number [protected] after getting the 750rupees plan activated on 7th November 2011?

2. For how many days I have been charged for the above mentioned plan against the number of days the services been used?

3. The SMS received on activation of services I had received had said "rs 750, 5gb free, after 6.03315gb 100% free" Do you think it means that I will be billed for anything other than 750 rupees if I use more than 6.03GB of internet service? In absence of any communication from Airtel I was shocked to see the bill and only after chasing and demanding explanations since 9th of December I got a clear answer of 22nd of December. So Is it a failure on customer's part of from Airtel side? Is it my fault for a failure in communications from Airtel's side? (kindly answer all questions)

4. When Did AIrtel had sent SMS / e-mail or personally called me up informing me that my 5Gb limit was up and now I will be charged till limit will reach 6.03GB and and after that it will be free of charge?

5. On which date Airtel had sent me communication informing that the 3G limit is over and under the new plan charged usage I will not be getting 3G services till end of the month or start of next billing cycle as showed in your bill?

6. I have been told by Airtel various representatives that there is some internal limit imposed for internet usage for 4000 or 5000 rupees, was that communicated by SMS or e-mail to me?
(Even those representatives are not clear that limit is for 4000 or 5000 rupees.)

7. Any communique from Airtel to explain that from 5GB to 6.03Gb will be charged? The above mentioned SMS only states that if I will use more than 6.03Gb then I don't have to pay anything other than 750rupees.
I had received a mail from Swati representing the Appellate Authority on 22nd of December 2011 in which she had clarified that the charges from 5Gb to 6.03Gbwill be levied. At the time of activation I have not received any communication from Airtel distingushing the same and only because if that I have been asking to reverse the unconfirmed/unexplained charges.

8.As per your mail below I have been given a discount of 17, 328.90, you mentioned the word "Given", I am sure under the 750plan a customer is entitled to that amount, please clarify if its not the fact.

9. Please confirm the appropriate authority address (both postal and e-mail id) who may we sent a legal notice if we decide to go in a court of law against these misinformation.

I would be thankful for immediate response for above mentioned.

S Thakur

Regards,
Dear Rakesh,

Dear rakesh,

have you been briefed by airtel and your superiors to forcefully close customer's complaints?

DID you read the above message or not? I think you've no other choice to write these kind of messages, DID you get the impression after reading the above message to justify your notification to say that the complaint has been resolved?

if that is the case then I feel sorry you that you can't understand the issue or maybe you do understand how the wrong information sent by airtel resulted in increase of billed amount to cheat its clients but can't do anything as per your job description.

Disgusted with airtel at the way they want their employees to resolve genuine complaints in such an unprofessional manner.

By the way DID you mention whom a customer should send the legal notice to? I had asked for full postal as well as e-mail address for the concerned in point number 9.

There is an office of the ombudsman at vasantkunj, new Delhi, should a client approach them regarding unsolved and legal complaints?

will be most thankful if you could answer.

Another thing, please confirm your superiors, the way you have chosen not to answer my questions and not disclosing the information seeked about my usage is in itself against the law, please check with your legal advisor that this instance can be a recorded fact in a court of law.

Looking forward to a more revealing reply from bharti airtel

After Several Reminders I have not received 1 direct reply, you and your colleagues are trying to delay this matter. I had asked simply please guide me to which Authority I should contact with regarding the legal petition, but all I am getting in revert is the mail saying all charges are correct...If that the case Why You guys at Airtel are not sharing the requested information? From the 9 Points I asked, NOT even a singly one has been replied to. Maybe you want to reply them here?

And Hey Happy New Year!!!

By the way, could you please help me to connect with Mr Mukesh Bhavnani, I believe he is the Bharti Group Company Secretary & Corporate Legal Director. Also for Jyoti Pawar who is a Director Legal and Regulatory of Bharti Airtel Limited. Kindly share their contact information like e-mail id, contact number and postal address.

Dear Airtel Representatives,
I have been following this with you people since December 27th 2011. Thats more than 840hours or 35days. Why are you people not giving me the requested information? How can such competent people who are so sensitive to customer problems can shy away from their responsibility? I understand that Airtel and its representatives do not want to accept their own faults and failures in processes, none o[censored]s want to do that. But just by denying me the information you people are delaying the inevitable. As told you via mail and on phone (even after specifically requesting NOT TO CALL I keep getting calls from Airtel various departments) this matter is due in court and I need specific information as asked below in 9 points(same questions being asked since 27Dec2011) .
On top of that you people had deactivated the outgoing on that number as well, even after the due date is far far away? I wonder whether this will make another fine legal point against Airtel processes for deliberate customer harassment!
Last mail I sent was on 12th or 13th of January 2012. And even though I got acknowledgement from all of you I did not get any reply/information which is sought. (COPIES OF ACKNOWLEDGMENTS IN TRAILING MAILS)
On a national holiday that's 26th of January 2012 a gentleman named Shekhar, who identified himself as the Appellate Authority Floor Manager, had called up and spoken with us. He was trying to give VERBAL information and explanations for which we are not at all interested as told you guys many number of times. Please revert to the requested information via EMAIL ONLY. Shekhar first insisted on giving verbal replies but later when he couldn't, he assured my husband that Airtel will revert soon.
But even after my last mail which was 20 DAYS AGO, we are still waiting for a reply. He also stated that the answer will be in some standard format which will not be comprehensible. I wonder does that mean Airtel does not want to give answers to simple questions for my cell number?
Whatever happens to information asked from bharti Airtel time and again regarding concerned legal department contact info?
And what happen to contact info for Mr Mukesh Bhavnani (Bharti Group Company Secretary & Corporate Legal Director) and for Jyoti Pawar (Director Legal and Regulatory of Bharti Airtel Limited.)
Kindly share their contact information like e-mail id, contact number and postal address.
Here are the points I requested to have the specific information for to be answered below each point. I would highly appreciate if anyone of you could still answer.
1. How many days of 3G service has been used by me on my number [protected] after getting the 750rupees plan activated on 7th November 2011? (1 day, 2 days 7 days or whatever please be specific)
2. For how many days I have been charged for the above mentioned plan against the number of days the services been used? (1 day, 2 days 7 days or whatever please be specific)
3. The SMS received on activation of services I had received had said "rs 750, 5gb free, after 6.03315gb 100% free" Do you think it means that I will be billed for anything other than 750 rupees if I use more than 6.03GB of internet
service?
At the time of activation I have not received any
communication from Airtel distingushing the same and only because of that I have been asking to reverse the unconfirmed/unexplained charges.
Answer from Swati Mishra Appellate Office Bharti Airtel Limited : Hence, we regret the infeasibility to process any reversal for the same.
8.As per your mail I have been given a discount of 17, 328.90, you mentioned the word "Given", I am sure under the 200MB 3G GPRS Free and 750 5GB free plan, a customer is entitled to that amount, please clarify if its not the fact. You have yourself mentioned that in bill and in your mail the amount against the free data.
9. Please confirm the appropriate authority address (both postal and e-mail id) whom may we sent a legal notice if we decide to go in a court of law against these misinformation.
Thank you all for you time and help.
Thanks & Regards,
S. Thaku
