Bharti Airtel Limited — Unlawful & Arbitrarily withdrawal of services
I was using Airtel post paid no [protected] since October 2009. I was receiving the monthly service bill from Bharti Airtel at my residencial address and these were paid in time. Recently due to change in my usage pattern and to monitor closely the call usage pattern I requested for change of the billing from post paid to prepaid on 6th February 2012 at Sun Telecom ( Airtel Customer care centre at Jodhpur Park Kolkata ) after payment of full bill amount for the billing cycle period ( 06.01.2012 to 05.02.2012 ) in cash and submitted required documents ( copy of my Passpost and a copy of my photograph ). I was given a SIM and was advised that it will take two days for completing formalities and varification and I should insert the SIM recharge with Rs.48.00 by 9th Feb morning. The customer care in Sun Telecom had received all the documents and checked but did not give any receipt and insisted that I should not put the date anywhere as it will be dated when the SIM will be activated. Accordingly the SIM was activated by RC 48.00 and the power recharged by Rs.30.00. I got my SIM activated and using for last 5 days . Now suddenly I find that " services to my phone have been burred due to non submission of required documents". As there were no contact number of there Customer Care / Sun Telecom , Jodhpur park , when I visited there office ,it was closed. Tomorrow I am visiting out of station , I wonder how the matter will be taken up. What I understand that this is the usual service attitude of Airtel after you switch over from post paid to pre paid. Can you please help me out. Regards, Dipankar Adhya 58/67A, Lake Gardens, Kolkata 700045 Was this information helpful?

In fact because of service barred my wife could not inform me the medicine required urgently by my aged father.and after hearing such thing I could visit Airtel Relationship Centre by 8 pm only to be informed the copy of document ( my Passport dated/issued on 22 November 2001 vaild upto 21.11.2011 applied for renewal/fresh PP on 21.11.2011 File no CAL I[protected] is treated as invalid documents hence the service was withdrawn.
What we understand that the purpose of residential proof is that the SIM is issued to only the person whose identity has been established/ varified.
Now having used Bharti Airtel service as post paid customer with the same permanent & present residential address for last 52 years ( at least 10 years as they can find from the copy of my passport ) I wounder how they can treat the above document not valid enough to establish my residential proof or my identity.
It is highly regretted that when these mobile service providers are going out of the way to get customers in their fold they are absolute senseless to appreciate the genuineness of their existing customers who wants to be with them and not opt for number portability to switch over to other good / better service providers.
This is only to draw their attention to their inaction .
