[Resolved]  Dell Inspiron 1525 — Dell Inspiron 1525 System Is Dead

I purchaced Dell Inspiron 1525 A year & a month ago(19June2008), so now my laptop is not in warranty, My Laptop was turned off for two day from 1july2009 to 2july2009, because I was out of station. Today(3July2009) I wanted to start my laptop but unfortunately the laptop was dead, I thought the battery might be low, so I pluged my laptop to dell power adopter, battery indicator was showing full (Battery charging indicator blinks when battery becomes fully charged), then I pressed power button no responce from system! no softkey LED blinking in serial pattern, no click sound from speaker on pressing power button, no boot menu, no screen! I showed it to local Dell Dealer, he checked the battery & power adopter they were OK and told "The Laptop Is Dead" and it will cost me nearly RS. 28, 000/-(Twenty Eight Thousand Indian Rupees). My Laptop is not in warranty! The warranty expired a month back on 16 june 2009. And now I am facing this serious problem. When I asked what is the reason for laptop being dead? he said "the electronic parts can fail any time!". And surprisingly most of the parts of my system where of "MADE IN CHINA" that was too bad. My friend took Compaq laptop V6100AU 11/2 year ago still its working fine, and my DELL INSPIRON 1525 IS DEAD JUST AFTER 1 MONTH OF EXPIRY OF WARRANTY! And since purchase of my laptop the Touch Pad(Alps Touch Pad) was not working good at all, I had to use Optical USB mouse(I have iBall Laser Mouse), the screen on all four corners was dim compared to central area of screen. So Its my bad luck or its due to china parts I am not able to make out. So I Wont Preffer Dell Systems For Any One Of My Friends Now Onwards, May Because Of My Bitter Experience With Dell.

I purchased a Dell Inspirion 1525 on December 14, 2008 and 8 months later it died! The ac adapter also heated up to the point where I had to use an oven mit to be able to handle it. I shipped it in for repairs and was told that I damaged it and that since I damaged it it's not cover under the one-year Limited Warranty! The LCD screen and the motherboard need replacing and I was told that if I purchased the complete care warranty for 326.00 that they would go forth with the repairs OR I could just pay the discounted repair price of 200.00 and keep the warranty I have. This laptop top was OBVIOUSLY defective! I would of had to chuck it off a cliff to render it as useless as it became. It literally just died!!! I've since done research on this computer (and others) and apparently Dell is not interested in backing up their defective products and the customer service located in India is absolutely frustrating and useless! I've even read about people who have 3 yr warranties, have paid to have their repairs done only to have the laptop continually breaking!! Who has the time and energy to keep sending in their computers for repairs??
I checked my states attorney generals office and there is a settlement from dell concerning the warranty coverage and a handful of other complaints. Unfortunately, I missed the deadlline to claim by four months. This was due to the timing of the purchase. The suit was filed 4 months after my purchase and the computer died four months after the deadline. I'm hoping that the Attorney General office can help me come to some form of resolution but quite frankly I see that I'm in a no win situation because it seems that Dell has all the angles covered and to HOW NOT to honor their agreements.

DON'T BUY FROM DELL!!!
I actually purchased an Inspiron 1525 in Aug 2008, and mine also just stopped working on June 30th 2010! I was at work and came home and pressed the power button, and nothing happened. (Just a note, but I take VERY good care of my electronics etc). I have taken it to various places and they have all said power/motherboard and it's not worth fixing. This is less than 2 years old! My 1 year warranty is up, but this should not have happened. I live in Maine and there is a law in place that allows 4 years warranty for purchases. I have faxed, called and emailed Dell and have not gotten anything from them for support or assistance since my warranty is up.
