[Resolved]  HDFC Bank — - Local cheques clearing - I never knew it takes 3 days for a bank to clear a local cheque with the technology we have today

I have an account with HDFC bank Koramangala, I had deposited a local cheque of ICICI on Monday morning at 10 am . My cheque had not cleared till Wednesday as i has issued some cheques based on the third party cheque that was deposited on Monday . I had visited the bank quite a few times asking them for an update on the 3rd party's cheque that i had deposited into the bank . They informed me that they are still processing it .

I had waited till Wednesday evening after this i was fed up and called the phone banking people, they informed me that they need 3 days for clearance as per RBI rules . I had informed them if no action is going to be taken i will be filling a case against them after speaking to them with such force, my call was transferred to a supervisor where he showed no courtesy, he informed me that he would check with the clearance department and would give me a call back .

At 9.30pm i had received a call from him informing that the 3rd party cheque had been bounced back due to insufficient funds .

The next day i went up to the operations manager asking her why was there such a delay, she informs me saying that the cheque is cleared on Wednesday . I informed her that when i had spoken to the customer relations people at 8 pm my cheque information had not been updated how come they had information on this at 9.30 pm and how did they update the records .

FOR ME TO RECEIVE THE BOUNCED CHEQUE BACK IT HAD TAKEN 2 WEEKS FROM THE BANK'S END

This makes me feel what type of customer service or operation does this bank handle . As customers do we need to run behind these people so much or do they need to run behind us to upbring their business .

I agree with this . I guess RBI should change their policy .

Banks need to start improving on their customer service, if not lets drop the bank on move on to the next bank who provides us such services.

WHY DANGLE FOR SOMEONE WHO SHOULD BE DOING THE SAME FOR US
I have face the same problem with HDFC BANK. They talks lot about technology they have but useless.
I have deposited a salary cheque that too of HDF BANK. But still it is not cleared. I have been calling since a week but every day they say today i will clear.
I don't know whom to contact. Call centre executives don't have any information. I don't know why the bank is paying the salary to them.
I have similar experience just last month. I had deposited a cheque drawn from my ICIC a/c to my HDFC a/c on Feb 01, 2010. On Feb 2, 2010 bank statement shows the money being credited. However on Feb 3rd morning cheque issued to housing society (which one tenth of the cheque amount), was declined stating insufficient balance.

When enquired with HDFC bank, I have been told that the value date is Feb 3, 2010 and hence cheque was dishonored. I have failed to understand how come the bank statement on Feb 2, 2010 shows cheque amount credited in my a/c ?

This is sai..I am working in a corporate company...My company provided me my 1st salary in the form of cheque(HDFC)...I only have SBI bank account..I droped that HDFC cheque in drop box in my SBI branch(local clearings) on 19th oct 2013 . After droping i asked one of employe that how many days it will take for clearing that cheque: he said it wil take 4 working days . Today is 26th octbr 2013, 1 week got completed till now i dint recieved my amount and i dont know the status of that...

Can any one say exactly how many days it will take for clearing the cheque...?
I have similar experience ... take too much time in cheque clearing and fund transfer ...
There are two lazy fat ladies in HDFC Ejipura branch, bangalore and they work like a tortoise and most of the time not in the teller when customers are waiting. Very disappointed with the service of HDFC bank. Time to shift to some other good bank.
