once i was also in similar situation . bank demands "photo id proof" coz they coudn't recognize customers frm their acc info in banks computer server.. .their digital network infrastructure is either primitive or outdated :(
further they also dont hav any means to verify ur TPIN num at bank :(
thats gr8! to avail services at bank, customer should always carry their photo id proof like they did on the day of opening the account :(
