[Resolved]  HDFC Bank — Non acceptance of aadhar card as address proof

Dear Customer,
We confirm that only below document as accepted for opening demat account: 1. Proof of identity of all the holders: Passport, Voter ID Card, Driving license, PAN card with photograph, Identity card/document with applicant’s Photo, issued by Central/State Government and its Departments, Statutory/Regulatory Authorities, Public Sector Undertakings, Scheduled Commercial Banks, Public Financial Institutions, Colleges affiliated to Universities (this can be treated as valid only till the time the applicant is a student), Professional Bodies such as ICAI, ICWAI, ICSI, Bar Council etc., to their Members; and Credit cards/Debit cards issued by Banks.
2. Proof of New Address of the first holder : Ration card, Passport, Voter ID Card, Driving License, Bank Pass book, Bank statement with Cancelled Cheque, Verified copies of Electricity bills (not more than two months old), Residence Telephone bills (Fixed Wire Phone bills not more than two months old) Leave and License agreement / Agreement for sale and Self-declaration by High Court & Supreme Court judges, giving the new address in respect of their own accounts, Identity card/document with address, issued by Central/State Government and its Departments, Statutory/Regulatory Authorities, Public Sector Undertakings, Scheduled Commercial Banks, Public Financial Institutions, Colleges affiliated to Universities (this can be treated as valid only till the time the applicant is a student) and Professional Bodies such as ICAI, ICWAI, Bar Council etc., to their Members.

HDFC duffer.. as per yr above clarification..Adhaar card should be accepted as proof of address cause it is a Identity card issued by Central government.

I visited HDFC bank to open account but they told that Aadhaar is not accepted as proof of residence as per instructions of RBI.I think the card is having no value and government should should not waste time and money for the same J S Pandey

HDFC is dumb. They call me classic customer. wanted to add my wife name to my account. She has no address proof except AADHAR card. i stay in rented premises. I have an agreement (registered) with flat owner which is accepted as my address proof.
Bank employee came to my house and took signature of my wife.
but these duffers HDFC bank not accept address proof of MY wife. And they call me Classic customer and want D mat account and get 10 calls a day.

THAT IS NOT THE CASE WITH HDFC ALONE MOST OF THE PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS ALSO DO THE SAME. I WENT TO OPEN A SB ACCOUNT IN SBI AND TO MY SHOCK THEY ALSO DID NOT ACEPT THE AADHAR ID AS A PROOF. I SHOWED THEM MY IBA ISSUED CARD AND TOLD THEM THAT I AM A MEMBER OF IBA THEN THE DUMB BRANCH MANAGER TOLD HIS STAFF TO ACCEPT THE AADHAR CARD FOR THE ACCOUNT OPENING. THESE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE UPDATED KNOWLEDGE SPOIL THE NAME OF REPUTED AND GOOD ORGANIZATIONS... THEY SHOULD BE SACKED...
