[Resolved]  ICICI Bank Website - Nri Not Easy For Use — Charges of Rs. 827 every quarter made when balance fell to 14,900; Not disclosed

BEWARE OF ICICI, NRI Customers, NRE Savings A/c - dont invest your moeny. ICICI Account holders be CAREFUL
It took more than 6 weeks to open/ activate NRE A/C; Internet password took another 6 weeks after making lot of calls while in India in August 2008 visit. What an awful experience?

You can not remit/ deposit check by mail in USA. Did you know that?
Have you visited the NRI internet banking? You can not browse easily through the website. They do not have direct link to close your account. It is a very tedious process to maneouvre the website.

I can not trust the money transaction by risking as there is always phishing going on.

Recent incident


I had Rs. 15, 115 balance as of September 23, 2008 (well above Rs. 15, 000 balance minimum not even known/ disclosed to me at the time of opening my account on August 16, 2008 at Patna, Bihar).
My Account no. is[protected]It is no longer confidential, good for internet banking because of PRIVACY).
I was given Debit card (which can't be used in USA and the charges were not disclosed.
They deducted Rs. 224 on November 5, 2008 which brought the balance to Rs. 14, 891.00 (below Rs. 15, 000 minimum rquired). This helped ICICI Bank to start bilking me and charging Quarterly fees of Rs.843 (charged on February 3, 2009) and again receently Rs. 827 on April 16, 2009.
I was charged total of Rs. 1, 894 for my account that started with Balance of Rs. 15, 115 (I paid 12% to the bank, rather than getting paid as interest).

Can this happen in USA? You bet NOT.
We NRIs and Indians are treated like TRASH by PRIVATE Banking as ICICI Bank, ING BANK.

I still believe in State Bank of India (Excepting too slow for changes).

I was planning for furure to put in Rs. 20 Lacs in Fixed Deposit in ICICI Bank for purchasing Apartment this year. I just opened to experience the phenominal changes in INDIA (I visited after 1992) and was ghastly disappointed.
HINESTY is no longer the best POLICY. DECPTIVE practices and quick profits will DESTROY INDIA.s ECONOMY.
WAKE up People ???

Easy solution to avoid any QAB charges...!!! Open a FD of 25000 INR under your customer id and your accounts become 0 balance..!! as log as you have that FD. More over its not that your balance goes below 15000 INR and bank will penalize you straight away.!! Its a QAB - Quarterly Average Baance.

You have a leverage to keep as good as 0 INR in your account for 45 days. just fund your account with 30000 INR for rest 30 days... NO CHARGES..!!!

Tips. Keep a track on your statements .. Atleast check them once every month..!!
my acc no 500426 opend in april n the worst bank i have bank with is icici and ihave closed my acc in april
