[Resolved] Ignou — Failure of Ignou BCA students | |
I have noticed that majority of the students fail in Ignou BCA. Although the enrolment figure of ignou is rising the failure figure is twice as much. The university doesn’t have a proper evaluation system. It also has a poor communication with the students. The university says that their course is ideal for working and those who doesn’t have time to attend a collage regularly and the students can complete the course in there own time. The reality is that whoever joins ignou bca will get lots of study material and lots of time in their hand but after two or three exams they realize it is better to leave. It would be best if ignou at least check the statistics of the bca students. Was this information helpful? | |

I am so frustated with this university. I am a student of MCA. I have been flunked in one exam for which I also filled the revaluation form but the paper was not checked again. I am feeling so helpless because even after attempting 87 percent paper correctly I will have to reappear for it. This time the revaluation results were declared after 1 month of filling the form whereas earlier they were declared after 2 months.

I have to submit my bachelors certificate withing 6 month from the date of joining, now it taken 8 month til i yet not finished my studies due to there poor ways of evaluation.And IGNOU certification is total waste in Information technology, they wont give us oppurtunity for working as a programmer, they says distance education students they wont prefer us
I want to transfer my university from IGNOU to any other university, i have only 3 more papers to complete my bachelor degree . but this poor evaluation system cant allow me to finish my studies.
How could i change my university ? i need your help. When i contacted with my institute they told me to give 65000rs then they will give me fresh degree of another university, by one sitting exam. 6 month degree certificate.
How can they do like this to us ?...
Is this education a business ?? If they think like this, then how can we students finish our career ..

Alright, the majority out here seem like disgruntled students, who would have passed their exams had they not been complaining so much.
The reason you are not passing is YOU ARE NOT STUDYING! If you CLAIM that you have studied hard, then on a forum like this no one can PROVE it, can they? If you studied smartly then you would have certainly cleared the exams.
Just because you are enrolled in an open university does not mean you will be granted marks out of "favour". You will also not qualify just because you have been enrolled for X number of years. It is graduation course and you have to STUDY. IGNOU course is designed for students who cannot attend regular college due to various circumstances. It gives you a FLEXIBLE mode to achieve your goal for pursuing higher education. It DOES NOT mean the course or the examination is easier than other universities.
For those of you who haven't read the prospectus before getting enrolled in the university, or claimed that it is going to close down or who have claimed that IGNOU degrees are not recognised etc.- Do us all a favour and educate yourself instead of misinforming others. The university was created from the central act - The IGNOU Act of 1985. It is also recognised by the UGC. Several court cases have been won in favour of the students who have IGNOU degrees against employers who had solely disqualified the candidates based on the degree. Since you are evidently on the net, you can check these facts for yourself.
I have successfully completed BCOM from IGNOU within the stipulated time, and ICAI also recognises my degree. As for the exams it were tough and the invigilators were strict while conducting it, far better than many other universities and colleges were copying is rampant. I had no problems throughout my course from admission procedure, assignment submission, delivery of course material, receiving my mark sheet/certificate, and the timely manner in which my queries were answered by teachers/admin.
So for those who are complaining - get a reality check and have a deep and hard look at yourself. Introspection is the key word here.

I am a new student of IGNOU. Coming from a non IT background. I applied for the BCA online course on September 28. Classes didn't start till today, I.e October 30th. From the first day of enrolling, I have been trying to get in touch with someone from the study center. Not a single person picked up the call, or responded to the emails.
I called the regional center directly. The first question from the lady there was, "Why are you calling here?".
Exam is in December and we barely have a month of class. 6 month semester is boiled down to one month. Some of my batch mates asked the teacher if we would complete our portion within one month. She happily said it's your responsibility to study..
Before even the class started we got a message about assignment submission, with a deadline of October 30. Which is the day the classes start. Assignment should be handwritten and submitted in person to the study center. One section of the assignment is to create a power point and a group collaboration project on Google docs. Tell me sir, how will I do these things handwritten?
So far my experience has been miserable. Zero communication and instruction from IGNOU. If it's completely my responsibility to study, why pay for these books and classes at all ? The only thing good about this thing is that it's cheap. But the classes are worthless.
I get it if they teach classes properly and people don't study, you can definitely blame the students. But if you claim to conduct classes on a topic and just rush everything into a single class, What's the point ? No one is saying people shouldn't study or put in the work. I wrote all these posts 3 years back. Now I can definitely that enrolling yourself with Ignou is like being a part of some hell. i have completed this course in 3 yrs time after filling up revaluation forms for 4 exams out of which 3 got cleared. i could have completed it almost 9 months back but i didnt clear one paper in revaluation. the worst part is i m unable to get a job in development because no one hires freshers. so only get this degree once you have technical experience which is only possible once you have technical degree from some place .
Hello Mr.illovtar. It seems like u r working for ignou. BCOM is not a big rocket science, any tom dick & harry can do it. I[censored] really want to know dan look at some career oriented courses in which they university have implemented several unneccesary subjects i n the programme. Tell me wat the hell of requirement of past historical based subjects in BCA which is truly professional software engineering course..
And most worst part in this is they only want their rettofied answers in the answersheets. If student had applied their logical mind so they just don't care about it just because they don't understand the logical concepts..

Hello I have a problem, I wanna know who can help. I registered for BCA in June, 2006...I cleared all my exams and assingments in 2011 except the project. I gave the viva in Nov, 14 and cleared it. Now when i Grade card wasn't updated for sometime. I went to IGNOU today and they told me that my extended registration was over in June, 14 so they won't update my grade card now with my Project Marks...Do suggest what to do...i am in a mess, i specially took extension to clear the viva and they didn't except my same project in initial one year and now when i have cleared it...they are saying, they won't update it.
Becouse of some medical issue i'm not able to wrote my 3rs semester even thou Bangalore university allowed to continue for 4th sem but our collage(DSI) management is not allowing, so they were giving tc to 163 students.
I have only 1 year to pass out actually.
Thats why i'm looking for a one year distance education in IGNOU.
My actual plan is to finishing bbm and i want to go for higher studies(MBA) in us or uk. so i would like to know IGNOU certificate have the value for that?

I didn't get my provisional certificate with grade carde.
I did not get my provision certificate with grade card since last year. So, please send my provisional certificate urgently. Hope you will send my provisional certificate as soon as possible. specially bca..
i am in bhopal center and all it happens here is fraud... out of if 10 classes only 2 were held . out of 4 subjects only classes for 1 subject is held and for rest of the classes the management here keeps the money granted to center for the classes faculty expenditure (what i and few other students think that they do). dont know why the delhi main centre is not looking to it and if the directly talk to the students here they will come to know how many classes were held and when it comes to exam the check the theory as if they have taught us all lol... and in practical they and the outsider viva teacher makes fun and blame the students and fail them for not studying.. but the real fact is there were not sufficient practical sessions as well as theory sessions were held.
moreover they pass the students which are there relatives :(
