[Resolved]  IRCTC Indian Railways — Couldn't edit booked ticket in IRCTC

Hello Sir/Madam,

I booked a tatkal ticket using IRCTC site today (14th March 2011). When I booked, I wrongly selected the sex as 'Male' instead of 'Female'. Since that is a tatkal ticket, I don't get money back if I cancel. So, I went to Madurai railway station and contacted Chief supervisor to modify the ticket. He casually said that they can't do anything with ticket booked in IRCTC, there should be an edit option to modify the ticket. I told him that there is no edit option there (the reason he was saying is that will be misused by agents, but that cant be done with the new restriction - ticket agents can't login between 8 am to 9 am) and that is a tatkal ticket. He told that he can't help.

So, I contacted IRCTC customer care[protected]. The guy told that I can't edit the ticket, have to cancel the ticket and book again. I told that is a tatkal ticket, but still he was telling that you made a mistake and money can't be refunded. How could a govt service would rob our money? I'm paying my tax correctly. If they do this, why should I pay my taxes?

I need my money back! or the ticket!
I cant book another ticket since its all in waiting list now! I can't travel and I dont get my money back? Is this justice?

IRCTC and Ministry have to be practical. The mistake is not intentional. The correction can be easily, few hours before departure of train. Photo ID with printed ticket can prove ownership.There is no change in name. Some change in details, which should be permissible.Sr. officers should look into matter and help the customer.

Am Jeyanthi Mathivathanan Traveled from coimbatore to Madurai In reservation compartment ST2 on 18th night at 8.30p.m.in train no 16612.The unreserved people boarded the reservation compartment and troubled us.I complaint to the TTR Mr.Mohammed Hajeeb regarding this he didnt take actionand ask us to adjust the unreserved passengers.I think he got some thing from the unreserved passengers.The unreserved passengers didnt allow us sleep properly they fought with us for the place.They slept down we couldnt sleep because to take care of our belongings.we are booking the train ticket only for the safety o[censored]s.But we suffered a lot Yesterday.Please take the issue and ensure this will not happen again

As far as there is no challenge for reserved seats railway minister should instruct TT to consider the cases on merits and proof given
