[Resolved] Railway — Charging fine for carrying TV | |||
Dear Sir, I carried a small 32" LCD TV(94cm x 20cm x57.5cm) from Kozhikode to Ernakulam South Station in Train number 16308 dated 15 August 2011 . whether it requires any booking for carrying such a small TV of 12.4 Kg? Railway charged 300 Rs as fine for the same([protected] AF 142901 Jibi Mol Sr. TE Ekm). i believe it is my legal right to carry a small tv with me. She charged in the name of excess baggage(40 Kg), whereas my only other bag was a shoulder bag of hardly 2 kg Kindly make arrangements to return the said money and not to repeat the same Regards Syam Sunder [protected] Was this information helpful? | |||

True Railway People forget the rules and charge extra. we can carry upto 40 Kg.. and it size is less than 100cm.. 40 inches no charge should be taken

I paid 1735 rupee carring a LCD TV from Bangalore to Bhubaneswar. There is no clear guidelines on luggage.

Boss today My father was carrying a 26 LCD TV (Mijestic Railway station, Banglore to Bhubaneswar). The coolly and TT told them to take a slip for that otherwise TT might catch you and fine up to 3500. so they have to travel almost a Kilometer distance to pay the Fee around 460 rupees. I am still unknown to the specific rules. Railway must have clear rules for this. However I have posted the same in Twitter to IR hope they will come up with some answer. Will update if get reasonable answer.

I suggest you to describe your outfit color or design. So it might be easy to cross check in the CCTV. Just to make your point strong if you caring only shoulder bag like you said.
