[Resolved]  Railway Ticket — Against TC of Intercity Train from Surat to Bandra

This is in regards to the above subject, to which I have faced today while traveling from Surat to Borivali by Train – Intercity – 2936 with my colleague Mr.Shajan Poulose. Our details are as below –

Status – Confirmed – C2 - Seat No. 66 and 67.

We had visited our factory today morning by Intercity and had booked ticket for return journey to Mumbai by Intercity from Surat to Borivali, but due to some delay in official work we were late to reach to the Surat Station and had to catch the train in running condition and due to which we boarded very last compartment of the train. Since we were late we could not know the position of the compartment i.e C2 we were late to reach up to our compartment. By the time we reach the compartment the train was nearing to Navsari Station, we reached the compartment and had seat as per our reservation.
Train left the Navsari station and was about to reach Valsad, where the TC came and asked for the Ticket , we showed him the ticket but he said since we were late he has sold off the ticket to some other couple (Name – Mr.Muztafa ) who were sitting just near to our seat on the other seat. TC took me out of the train and said you will have to wait outside the AC compartment once any sit is vacant you can go and sit there but you will have to pay for it because it is your fault that you have come to your seat late and he went off. I immediately came inside the train and sat on my own seat only and the train started from Valsad Station.
The couple to whom he had given our seat, now got up from there seat which was already booked from Valsad for some another passenger and started telling us to get up from the seat as TC had sold off our seat to this couple. We refused to do so and therefore they went and called TC. Who really abused us like anything and also threaten us to throw out of the train by catching our collar. This TC was accompanied by some other 4-5 passengers who were with him , may be they were his chamchas who were traveling without any proper ticket and just paying him the money to get the seat. Whole of the passenger inside the train were looking at us but no one helped us as they were also afraid of them.

Finally we had to get up from our seat and stand out side the AC compartment in the train. He also was threatening us to call Police , on which we strongly told him to do atonce so that we can atleast tell our problem to Police, but he never called and instead caught my collar and waked me up from the seat by taking away my E-ticket from my hand. He also threaten us that better you listen to us or I will issue a memo and you will be put to jail in the railway police for a weeks time for breaking the railway rules. We had to travel up to Virar without the Seat although we had our proper confirmed railway ticket.

He was suddenly very polite with us, after some time as he might have come to understand that we might register a complaint at the Borivali Railway station after getting down from the train, we said this to other passenger and he might have come to understand about this. He was trying to offer us seat which was vacant by the time Virar came , but my friend had to get down at Virar as he is staying in Nalasopara.

We have also seen that this TC was carrying a huge money in his pocket , which he might have earned by selling off the vacant ticket on which passenger might have not come. While standing in the corridor of AC compartment we came across of the other passenger who also had complaint against him and also said that all this TC who are in Intercity have started a business of selling off the tickets where passengers are not come or might have missed there train due to some reason.

TC told us that he has allocated our seat to the couple as they were in the waiting least i.e 1 and 2, but we had seen that they were having the E-ticket which automatically gets cancelled if it is in waiting till the chart is prepared . Also if he had allocated have to submitted the money to the railway authority ???

This is our humble request that please please enquire about this matter on your level because we being a service class people could not lodge a complaint at the Railway police station as next day we have to go to the office for our routine work and cannot afford to take leave from the office and keep running at the court and police station.

What was our fault ?? the only fault was that we could not reach the compartment with in time, but they could have atleast waiting till the Navsari Station to sell of the ticket illegally.

We poor people are not in a position to oppose this type of rude railway staff and pen or email is only and only way for us to oppose them.

Hoping to hear from you very soon on the above matter and will request to please please do something in this matter. I have also copied this to Indian Consumer Complaints Forum. But before they do something would request you to please act from your side.
