[Resolved] Reliance General Insurance — Robbery of my Car | Deducting 15% of IDV
My Hyundai-i10(Reg Num: DL 7C J 2945) was robbed by some criminals at gun point on 2nd Oct-2009. They looted all the cash and jewelry I'd at that time, and then after tying me, they'd dropped me in some near-by Jungle. They'd also taken all my car documents like RC, Insurance Papers etal. I informed the local police station about the incident on 2nd Oct, 2009 itself, but couldn't inform Insurance company same day, because I was in trauma, and moreover I was going to get married on next day i.e. 3rd Oct, 2009. The incident happened to me near my home town (where my wedding was planned); however I live in some other city. Once I came back from my home town, I intimated the insurance company about the incident on 22nd Oct, 2009. The IDV of my i10 car was 3.15 L, but Insurance Company is offering me 2.66L after deducting 15% of my IDV, and the reason they are putting is - Delay in Intimation. I want to know the opinion of Experts for my following questions: 1) Is Insurance Company legally justified in deducting 15% of my IDV? What is IRDA guideline for this? 2) If they are doing wrong, what are the options I've? Claim Number: [protected] Policy Number: [protected] Thanks! Harsh Was this information helpful?
