Have samsung side by side refrigerator. 2 years old First year we had issues where the back froze totally and the fan made a loud noise. Service guy took it apart and thawed it and i think replaced the fan. Now it has a horrible smell when you open the fridge door. Like others, i cleaned and threw out everything. replAced the filter. Took the back off and cleaned the drip pan. I hate this refrigerator. samsung should be sued for continuing to make such a defective expensive product

I have the same issue with a Samsung French Door refrigerator that isn't even a year old. When the Filter light came on, the inside of the refrigerator started smelling like fish or a bad chemical. I had a technician out today that did nothing but tell me to put charcoal in it. Really? Unbelievable! I have seen where others have this same issue so there is a problem with the refrigerator and nobody wants to help resolve it.
Same issue here too - we have a 4-year old Samsung model RF261BEAESR/AA that started stinking like rotten fish all of a sudden. We emptied it, threw everything away, scrubbed it top to bottom with bleach water and it still stinks. Very frustrating to have an expensive appliance that is supposed to keep food fresh ruining it.
After 6 service calls from technicians from Samsung they have confirmed that there is a chemical smell coming from the area of the compressor when the fridge is running. But they got on the phone with tech support who told him to look through my drawers and cupboards without my permission. He found some scented candles and the tech on the phone used that as reason to close the ticket saying it's not related to the fridge. Even tho the technician in my home admitted the stink is coming from the fridge. It smells toxic and my husband has breathing issues. Do I have to take legal action? Samsung will not honor warranty.
