[Resolved] SBI Credit Cards — Inability to make payment towards Credit Card dues and close it | |
Dear Sirs, I am an Indian and staying in United Arab emirates since October 2011. I was having and using a SBI Credit Card No. [protected]. After leaving India I requested SBI Cards to block [inactivate] my card, which they did and confirmed to me. I wanted to clear the balance outstanding in 3 instalments. Amount of Rs 11,000.00 as well as Rs 10,000.00 was paid to SBI branch through my representative in India on 31.01.2012 and 02.03.2012 respectively. My credit card No was reflected as "XXXX XXXX XXXX 4826" instead of the usual "3462" in the email statement received by me for the month of March 2012. I contacted Ms. Divya Dhody, Vice President, Customer Services and Principal Nodal Officer by email dt. 19.03.2012 for clarification. She replied that my card has been upgraded to PLATINUM CATEGORY and the number has been changed. She provided an account number for remitting the balance amount with SBI, which turned out to be invalid. I have since then been requesting them to furnish me the changed number so that I can remit the amount and close the account. I also informed that I would have closed my account by paying an amount of Rs 20658.68 if they had provided me the correct No. Since then I have made numerous email representations but of no avail. At the same time, I am afraid, the balance in the Credit Card Account would be multiplying geometrically by passage of each month. Despite informing them that my mobile No. is +971 [protected], they have stated in their latest email that they are unable to contact me in those numbers which I had provided to them while in India. I had forwarded the copies of entire communication to the chairman of SBI also vide my email dated 11 May 2012. I have not heard anything from them also so far. I do not know what is to be done further to get my account No. / Credit Card No. so that I can close the same. I also do not want to pay the additional amounts that have been accumulated since April 2012 for no fault of mine. I request you to kindly help me in the matter. Yours faithfully, T.R.
