[Resolved] SBI Debit Card — SBI Debit card reader problems at select ATMs

As You know SBI has migrated from traditional banking(Counter based) to ATM in recent years. and they have upgraded there core hardware & software to cater the high data trafic. but the ATM machines which have been installed in first phase, their strenght to read the cards have become less so the older cards (looking good as a face of the card ) are not read in these ATMs. It shows error as "Invalid Card". Bank officials are saying to replace the card at the cost of 225 Rs. this is a failure of the bank to upkeep the card reader in uptodate condition. for banks failure why the cudtomer should pay. A point In case the Card works in one ATM at SBI main branch at Bistupur(Jamshedpur) while on other ATM(Just besides the other one) it shows the invalid card. Request you to take up with bank for correcting the card reader rather than making new cards at the cost of the customer. Was this information helpful? No (0) Yes (0)

I had applied for re-issue og ATM agaist damaged card in the 2nd week of Oct 2008, but till date did not received any replacement. Though necessery processing charges was debitaed from my a/c in Oct 2008.

Subject:Request for charge back of an amount of Rs.612.75

Sir,
In continuation of my letter dt.02/06/2008 on the above subject I am to inform you that I have not signed any chargeslip in respect my Debit Card no.[protected] relating to my S/B a/c no.[protected] when the machine of the shoping mall showed the card inoperative on 23/05/08.Finding no other alternative I used my other debit card no.[protected] relating to my a/c no[protected] for necessary purchase when the machine showed it to be operative.I accordingly signed the relevant charge slip in respect of the amt.of Rs.612.75.But to my great surprise I found that the amt.of Rs.612.75 has been debited from my above two accounts.When I contacted the mall they informed that no amount has been charged from my a/c no[protected] as I did not sign any chargeslip in this regard.Thereafter Iran from pillar to post for chargeback of the amt.of Rs, 612.75 to my account no[protected] but to no avail.
In the circumstances, I would request you to kindly look into matter seriously so that an old man like me is not subjected to financial loss for no fault of his.
