I purchased three Sony LCD Televisions on 28th June 2008. The details are as follows:
Model No: KLV-32V400A
Serial No: 1203059
Model No: KLV - 32S400A
Serial No: 1202874
Model No: 40V300A
Serial No: 6201494
Within less than 12 months of purchase - Model No: 32V developed serious problems & we were informed by the Sony Service Center that the panel had to be changed. Post that within another 6 months - the same set developed further problems & we paid approximately 11,000/- to replace a motherboard or panel. Within 24 months of purchase - Model No: 32S developed similar problems & the panel of the same was changed to the tune of 7,000/- or 9,000/-. Now our third set Model No 40V has also developed problems - there is no sound. We were visited by an engineer from Krish Electronics - he repaired the set & charged us 990/- for the same but within less than a day the problem resurfaced & when the engineer visited us once more he informed us that the panel or motherboard needs to be changed & the cost of the same would be 11,000/- I've made a number of calls to Sony Customer Care & I have spoken to the Regional Manager a Mr. Allwyn... However neither the customer care executive nor Mr. Allwyn seemed interested in taking any responsibility for the poor quality of products that have been sold to me by Sony. I find it extremely peculiar that a Sony product doesn't even last 2 to 2 1/2 years without requiring serious repairs. This is not one television or a one off incident that we're talking about - this is about three televisions that have periodically broken down over a period of less than 2 1/2 years. These are clearly poor products with some serious manufacturing problems - I would like someone senior from Sony to get in touch with me immediately & provide me with solution of this problem. I refuse to pay this extremely high cost of ownership for products that are at a premium from competitors in the first place. I've done some research on the net & it seems to me that this a often occurring problem with Sony televisions. What surprises me even more is that executives at Sony don't seem in the least bit surprised at my complaints. Do I assume that Sony sells defective products in India with limited warranty with the intent to fleece customers with expensive parts?
