We purchased a Sony Ericson Xperia X10i Smartphone on 11th September 2009. The handset worked fine till 27th October 2011. on 27th October all of a sudden the handset started freezing and on 28th of October it started rebooting every 2 mins on it's own.
Because of the above issue I took the phone to the an authorised Sony Service Centre (Noesa Electronics Pvt. Ltd. - Gouribari). Post basic diagnosis of the phone the Service Centre REpresentative said that they need to check it further and I need to deposit the phone & they will inform me the next coarse of action & how much I need to pay to get it fixed over phone as it was out of warranty by then.
I never received a call from the Sony service centre. I visited the service centre on 3rd of December and post complaining I was asked to come back on 5th December. On 5th December I was informed that the cell phone cannot be fixed as the Motherboard of the Cell phone is damaged & I need to pay for the repair.
I agreed for paying for the phone to be fixed; however the SErvice Centre representative denied to repair it stating that it's not possible to repair the same as motherboard is damaged.
The concerns that I want to raise about my interaction with Sony are :
i) I never received a call from Sony Service Centre People even after a promise was made for the same and I had to chase it.
ii) I was informed that the phone is not in warranty so for any promlems I will hav eto bear the expenses. When I agreed to pay theya said that it cannot be repaired.
iii) I also visited the multiple Sony Service Centres i.e. of Gouribari & Rash Behari but no one ever tried to take the Ownership and fix it.
iv) If this kind of pathetic service is given to a customer who has purchased such a high value phone, then I really don't want to imagine to what level Sony's Customer service has been deteroited.
I am really dissapointed with the above instance and if Sony doesn't do anything about it. I am loosing my entire faith in Sony.
