[Resolved]  Southern Railway — Unprofessional behaviour of TT

I happened to travel on Train No:6528 Kannur-Yeshwantpur express on 22nd September 2009 (PNR:[protected]). I boarded the train from Kozhikode station at 7.30 pm in Coach S3. My seat number was 0008 Side Upper berth Confirmed on an e-ticket bought from IRCTC.co.in.

As expected by any rail passenger, I was supposed to be seated at my designated seat. But I happened to see a briefcase which was chained & locked on to my seat. I set aside this briefcase next to my seat itself so that its owner could collect it when he/she is back. Apparently this belonged to the TT of that coach & when he noticed the same, started abusing, threatening & to the extend of putting me behind bars by complaining to the Railway police. When I objected to the fact that I was unaware that the briefcase belonged to him & in any case, I had neatly kept it beside my seat itself did not calm the TT. He took my ticket & again started abusing me. I was left wondering which clause in the Railway act mentions you are not supposed to be sitting in your seat & keep aside any luggage occupied on your designated seat.

During the course of the journey, there were many other passengers who had to bear the brunt of his rude behavior. Notable among that being he threatening a group of college students. The actual words used by him "You don't know my power, I can ensure I put you behind bars & railway cases are such that you will never get peace of mind in your lifetime". The TT finally got down at Palakkad station & it was a much sought relief after the terrorizing moments in my worst ever railway experience. In the era of customer service & consumer friendliness, these kind of behavior from TT are least expected & has to be promptly dealt with by the respective railway authorities. I hope some action is taken at the earliest.
