[Resolved]  Spicejet Ltd. — Fraudulent charging on Debit Card

Please find below a brief on the pertaining issue.

I am due to travel to Chennai on the 4th of June with a return on 7th June. For the same I was doing an online booking (defense dependents booking - which can only be done online via the SpiceJet website) for Flt 206 (20:50hrs on 4th June) and return Flt 296 (19:50hrs on 7th June).

While doing an online booking with my Corporation Bank (MasterCard) Debit Card (xxxx xxxx xxxx 0533) I was given an error message on the website that my card had declined. Please note, this is not the first time I am traveling or doing a booking online. In-fact I have used the same card and the same scheme to travel earlier as well. Eitherways, given the error message I tried again knowing fully well that there was enough balance in my account. Surprisingly the second time also I got the same message.I obviously checked with my Bank immediately.

Sure enough, my account statement for the day clearly shows that two transactions of INR 7458.00 each have been made towards SpiceJet at 13:19hrs (Transaction ID - 997081) and 13:23 hrs (Transaction ID - 010682) respectively and the amount has been debited from my account!!

I had contacted Spicejet customer care and have requested them to credit the amount back ( a total of INR 14,916) after having shared with them my statement of accounts. At the same time, I have been requesting them that I need to speak to someone from their management but no one has bothered to call me as yet. I have spoken to 3 people from their customer care - Ms. Rashmi, Ms Millicent and Ms, Nidhi - but none of them has forwarded my request to a senior authority in-spite of me asking categorically that I want to speak to someone senior to get this matter resolved immediately.

To make matters worse, Ms. Nidhi today told me on the phone that my money will be credited back to my account tomorrow (28th May, 2010) and will reflect in my account in about 4-5 days from then!! But soon after I have received a response email from Ms Millcent clearly stating that as per their records the amount has not been deducted from my account!!!

At this point I am being forced to classify this as a case of fraud against them. Either they do not communicate internally or they don't know what is happening. In either case my money is with them and I need it back.

I have now been charged nearly 15000/- by them, money that they insist has not been charged by them and in-spite of that I still do not have a ticket to travel!!!

I expect immediate an immediate and appropriate response from them and also a resolution for the same.
