Shri Ratan Tata,

You as a person and your surname never fails to evoke a proud sentiment in the hearts of most Indians. It does so for me and especially for my younger causion brother who was a proud TATA employee about 4 years ago.

On his insistence we have, in the past 6 years bought 4 TATA cars, 3 old Indicas and 1 Indigo ( Dicor). Initially we felt the quality was being offset as an opportunity cost against the running cost. However as we have ended up discovering with remarkable consistency. that the quality does improve (with ach model though) but leaves enough gaps to echo Pepsi’s adline – ‘Yeh dil maange more’.

To cut a long story short.Our new Indigo Dicor was bought against my personal desire to buy a Hundai Verna, with a strong case by me. who insisted that it was great value for money. So as ‘Loyal’ customers we bought one in June 2007,and I was truly and pleasantly surprised that it was good.

1) However after 4 days of Purchase, the famous Pump (Lucas), Injector Nozzle, had given way. Car started shivering, black smoke from exhaust all over. The cops almost caught us for pollution control and were shocked to see a brand new car do this,after some time our car got stopped on the way near our home.

After that we had called tata motor breakdown team,they came after appx. 1 hr & check the car at site & finally they told me that their is some Engine problem is there in this car,so it will take atleast 10 days to repair,because some experts will come to get it repair.

At this time i was shocked that my new vehicle is got fully breakdown after only 4 days of purchase.I talk to Mr. Aditya Kasliwal regarding breakdown of this car.Then he told me that you can hire vehicle for the time your Indigo got repair,we shall reimburse all your movements bills for the period of your Indigo Repairs.

We had submitted appx. 15000/- bills of movement during my Indigo repair to Mr. Kasliwal,but till date they had not reimbursed amount to us.

After this first breakown our this vehicle got breakdown one more time within a year & we had got it repaired by Kamal & Comapany on chargeable basis.

We had done regular servicing of this car from Kamal & Company and i am the only user of this car,but inspite of all this it got breakdown again in June 2012 & when we ask for repair,they told us that appx. 20000/- expences will be done th get it repair,but after 4-5 days they told me that entire engine work will be done & appx. 2 Lacs rupees required to repair your vehicle.

Now can anybody help me in this case i am the single user of my car & i had never get it serviced from outside Agency,except Kamal & Company which is Authorised service parterner of Tata.

Just in case you are wondering, our car is a family car, used for about 30 km a day, in the city/CBD, by mostly a single driver, or me, who doesn’t (can’t) drive rash, and likes to maintain our cars with due respect and impeccably.

We are not sure who to trust and who to believe. We are am only aware that we are stuck with a car that is going back to where it came from more often.. like a bride who is finding it difficult to settle in her husband’s house.

I am sure, that this is not the intention of Tata Motors, and that Mr. Ratan Tata and Mr. Aditya Kasliwal actually take pride in their products, and that they will seriously do something about a really defective products that may have escaped a TATA Quality inspection, and that the world has no reasons do doubt that TATA Motors may not keep up the brand image & quality of its newly acquired foster children, namely the Jaguar and Land Rover.
