[Resolved]  Taxi Fare — Faulty Meter

I regularly take a taxi to my residence near Colaba bus station from my office in Prabhadevi.
On the night of Dec. 29th 2009 at 9pm I took taxi no. MH-01-JA-4059 (Santro/Maruti Car) a CNG vehicle from outside ICICI Prudential office before Century, Prabhadevi. The taxi had the new meter. Halfway through the destination I told the driver that his meter was faulty since the amount shown was much higher than what it should be. there was no traffic & infact had a very quick & smooth ride home. I normally get a meter reading for Rs. 130-135. On reaching my home the reading was for Rs. 164; I paid him only Rs. 135 but asked for his licence for which he said that he had a challan & no licence.

I have often faced this issue with the new metered taxis. Request you to kindly look into this matter.

I pity the rare cab user who has to pay more than the actual fare for long journeys'
