[Resolved] Times Of India — NEWSPAPER VENDOR OVERCHARGING NEWSPAPER READERS

We are regular reader of daily newpapers Times of India and Navbharat Times since last ten years.

The Newspaper vendor in Rohini Sector-9, charging residents for newspaper price in excess of that mentioned on Newspapers. He is not accepting any offer provided by TIMES Group. And also charged the price that is more than the amount mentioned on Newspaper. Even, If some resident reader oppose him to pay extra, he threats to stop the supply of TIMES Group New papers and make this clear to reader that there is a cartel of Newspaper Vendor in Rohini. Either pay extra or supply of paper would be stopped. Rohini is highest populated area of Delhi and Newpaper Vendor are cheating readers by overcharging with threats. I can't understand how the newpaper vendors do this with Media and that is TIMES GROUP. How can a newspaper vendor threats readers by making cartel and overchage readers of TIMES OF INDIA and NAVBHARAT TIMES. Are we living in Delhi i.e. Capital of India or any backward State.

The same is true of the apartment I live in in Koramangala, Bangalore South. The vendor has no sense of calculations and regularly overcharges for the Times of India, Economic Times without any justification. I don't know if anything can be done about it though.

times of india & economic times — Newspaper vendor charging extra

Hi,

I had shifted to a new locality (Adugodi-Bangalore) in December, 2010. I subscribe to both TOI & Economic Times. My news paper vendor charges me Rs 270 pm for delivering both these newspaper. This is well above the printed price( Rs 5.50 Monday-Sat and Rs 14 on Sunday). Request TOI to take strict action against the vendor who has been looting consumers. His details are as follows:

hello,
i am a resident of i-5 block sec-16, rohini and we facing same problem we are take 2 combos one of times group and other from hindustan times and when vendor came to collect money and we just ask him to ellaborate how can u charge more as he demading excess amount after that day he stopped our supply with immidiate effect, so its a tottaly unethical service done by vendor and we should unite and complaint their attitude to companies.

I am regular reader of TOI, TOI vendor in Electronic City-1, Bangalore, they are overcharging on the name of service charge. Now, they stopped giving the paper to me because I refused to pay the extra charge excpet of printed rate.

The newspaper vendor in Platinum Enclave Sector 18 Rohini, New Delhi also demands Rs.20/- for delivering the newspaper. When I took up the matter with the President of our RWA, he says the newspaper vendor will not allow another vendor in as they have a 'union' wherein their areas have been fixed.

I request the Times of India to look into the matter as the delivery agents get a handsome commission on each copy they deliver. Yet they have created this unethical monopoly which is a means for fleecing the consumer.

I reside in Kendriya Vihar, Sector-56, Gurgaon. The vendor mafia here not only over charge but also misbehave when questioned or even asked to give details in the bill mentioning actual cost of the newspapers and their own take separately. The persons who come to collect money openly state the the times of India higher ups not only know this but also permitted them to charge anyhow.

I often wonder why the media should make big stories of financial improprieties elsewhere when they continue to perpetuate a financial impropriety of this level themselves.

I am also a regular reader of toi but suddenly my vendor asking 30/- Rs extra for paper delivery he charges for every month n saying now newspaper has change the policy . If this kind of policy changing kindly company should inform first customer .
