Travelocity India — Erroneous tickets
I have had a terrible experience with Travelocity India. I purchased a Mumbai-London-USA ticket on travelocity India. It turned out that the Mumbai-London segment was a BMI (British Midland International) flight operated by Air India. I rang up Air India to reconfirm my itinerary two days after purchasing the ticket online, and they told me that my reservation details were not available in their database. They told me to contact BMI instead. When I rang up the BMI office in Mumbai, I was horrified when I was told that BMI simply does not operate out of India, and they have no idea why Travelocity India was selling such tickets. I then rang up the Travelocity Customer Care and explained them this situation. They refused to apologize for this situation. When I asked for a cancellation, I had to pay around Rs 9000 as penalty before they could process a refund (the cost of the initial ticket was around Rs 54,000), even when it was no fault of mine. Moreover, it took me more than three calls to elicit from them an email stating that my booking had indeed been cancelled. I wonder how an established travel agent like Travelocity India can trade tickets that are erroneous! Was this information helpful?
