[Resolved]  Vodafone — Forced connection

This complaint is against vodafone in relation to my number [protected]....This was an Airtel prepaid connection till April 2012....in the month of april I decided to get it ported to Vodafone postpaid....I sent a request to vodafone on 13th or 14th April for portability but soon I realised that I don't want the portability to happen and would like to stick to Airtel....I called up vodafone gave them the unique porting code and asked them about the status of my request....Vodafone told me that the portability will happen in 12 to 14 days....I then asked them to cancel the porting request....After a day or two I received a call from vodafone....they called to confirm if I have asked to cancel the porting request....I confirmed that yes I don't want the portability to happen....I asked the executive if I need to visit the vodafone store....He refused and said the portability will definitely be cancelled and I need not to visit the vodafone store....A few days later I got my number converted to Airtel postpaid...On 7th may I received a text from vodafone stating that my number has been ported to Vodafone....So since that day I was able to make calls from airtel number but who ever called me, got to hear "the vodafone number you have called is switched off"...Although I confirmed with vodafone several times and they appeased me by saying that the portability has been cancelled....I also logged a complaint in the consumer forum twice but nothing happened....I even visited the vodafone store but they were absolutely not helpful....And they rather blamed it on me and spoke to me very rudely and also forced me to use this connection....I was obviously not willing to pay two bills...Eventually I had to change my 2.5 years old number and close the account with airtel by paying the dues....I got a new number with Airtel then....When asked vodafone to close the a/c they asked me to wait for the bill which I have not used even once....After receiving the bill I called vodafone again and got [protected] a/c closed....Then vodafone said that they will close the a/c however they will send me another bill with full and final and I am bound to pay that....This amount is 261.36 due on 12/07/2012 and after the due date the amount due is 286.36....I have never used this connection and hence I won't be paying a sinle peny towards this a/c as the connection was forced on me.
